The legend, UFC Hall of Famer Matt Hughes, will try to defuse the high-octane attack of top welterweight contender Josh Koscheck in one of the division's most intriguing matchups.

Hughes was part of the older generation of fighters where wrestling and ground and pound ruled, and you didn’t need to know how to strike. Then he started facing wrestlers he couldn’t take down and who had better striking skills, so he was fucked. Tito Ortiz the same thing.

Danny Holder debatable. The best wrestler he faced in his “prime” was Sean Shark who is too small for WW. Again I think Hughes is great but he benefited from just being a better wrestler than the competition and was a horrible striker. Matt Hughes was, is, and will always be one of my favorite fighters of all time... Re his accident which many people have commented about, two things: 1. Matt is a fighter. He will recover like no other 2. Think about this, one minute he is driving along happy and content. The next he is fighting for his life and left to fight harder than he ever had to in the ring to get back what he had. Think about that, friend, every day that the Good Lord gives us is "GIFT"!

That's a false statement. Knockout power is knockout power. MMA hasn't "evolved" it's just newer fighters in their prime. They get new talent every year that are good in their trained specialties. Chuck Liddell in his prime could still knockout half of these new fighters. You can't compare the past to present. All the big names from 2005-2012 were beasts and the best of their time. People still say Mike Tyson can beat everyone today in his prime easily.

Hughes striking was always considered garbage, even when he was champ. He was just so good at wrestling, bjj and ground and pound, that it didn't matter. Danny Holder debatable. The best wrestler he faced in his “prime” was Sean Shark who is too small for WW.

Beastmode GTFOH, that's complete bullshit. The divisions today are trash, when these 2 guys were around there was loads of talent in all divisions and they were all good. The 2005 to 2013 era shits on today's era, not even comparable don't try.

I've always liked Josh. He put out a good show everytime he went in the cage. Remember watching him when all of them were training on tv. Forest, the shytown kid. Pretty cool back then.

Hughes striking was always considered garbage, even when he was champ. He was just so good at wrestling, bjj and ground and pound, that it didn't matter. He was also bigger than most in the division if you can believe it, so he had strength advantage as well. Koscheck was a respectable striker, but by no means elite
