    The Traxxas 380 motor is a really nice upgrade for drifting but on both cars I did it on when you get like 50 feet away the stock transmitter starts acting up and throttle sticks. But if you keep it close it's definitely a upgrade from stock and let's you do much faster drifts. The best setup if you want to upgrade for drifting is going to be a Traxxas 380 18t mixed with the hobbywing 1625 esc and then a dumborc transmitter and receiver. I skipped the Gyro on the receiver. I put that set up on this car and it's 100% flawless!!! My aliexpress Hoonicorn below: kzread.info/dash/bejne/q5l92Jp9k8mahJs.html

    Wonder if you can recalibrate the brushless esc. Never done it with cara but do it with all my planes. Usually have to turn the model on with throttle at full then wait for some beeps. I guess these RTR cars don’t have that feature though?

    I believe the brushless model is geared to high for the high kv of the motor. The brushless model needs a smaller pinion gear to give it more torque. It is cogging at take off. I believe a better brushless system would help but it would be harder to incorporate the cool lights. I'm going to try a smaller pinion and maybe larger spur gear. I think it will help.

    Great video thanks! The brushed motor, if i use it for drifting, constant speed shifts and breaks, how long do you think the motor will last before it blow up/burns or something? Also how frequent do you clean the brushed motor.

  • @outerzonerc777

    @outerzonerc777

    2 жыл бұрын

    I'm not sure how long it will last, electronics are tricky. A new brushed motor this size is very cheap. Honestly I know more about brushless stuff and have never cleaned a brushed motor. I do understand that people just drop the brushed motors in water and turn them on to break them in and make them faster for racing. I won't be messing with that. I will probably just blow out the brushed with compressed air every once in a while.

    Yea definitely go brushed for drifting. The brushless is only fun going fast, it's way to inconsistent for controlled drifting. You will really like the brushed one and you can put a traxxas brushed 18turn 380 motor and it's pretty damn powerful. I have been through 3 of the crappy brushless esc too, things from no throttle, to built in receiver braking, to steering servo changing directions. The brushed version is just better. Larger scale cars do pretty good when brushless but it seems to be a issue with a lot of sale scale cars.

I was thinking of getting a UDIRC 1607, but im torn between brushless and brushed because brushless is faster .. so that would be satisfying since he will only have this one RC But then now the brushed is better for drifting. • @outerzonerc777

    @outerzonerc777

    2 жыл бұрын

    Yes I did, I put a big fat racers edge cap on and it did very little. I believe the issue is the kv is to high for the gearing. I can not find a lower gearing to match the .06 pinion gear mesh so I have a 3200kv motor on the way to see if that fixes the issue. The stock motor is 3900kv and it seems like the esc has a shut off when it senses cogging. Yes I know I can get a new transmitter and receiver and more powerful esc but I'm trying to solve the issue for the community that wanted a plug and play set up and desires to keep the original lighting set up without a lot of modification.
