Ten years after they did it the first time in 2004. Still the only school to do it, and they did it TWICE! :)

@@samuel4411 They've won 11 national championships since 1995. Counting last year (which no one won, really), that's 25 years. That's still a lot but that's 14 they DIDN'T win. So, no, they don't "win almost every year."' Edit: Well, okay, maybe almost every *other* year, on average, heh.

2014 the UConn women's team finished the season with a overall 40-0 record and the women's national championship title same year the UConn men won the title as well

If any players that wants to gets recruited or wish to win a national championship for UConn. This is a prime example of great basketball.

Yes #23 is one of many Iconic numbers. KML is still one of my favorite pplayer. So happy I have a picture with her!

Just getting to this one, Mr. Russell, thanks a bunch. Man, this was one tough, tough team; tough minded, tough willed, physically tough. Why UConn gets bashed so much, I don't know, it's crazy. Winning is so impressive, it's so hard. But America is funny that way; American sports fans embraced the Steelers, but just for awhile; American sports fans really don't like the Patriots; back in the day it was the same for the Celtics, the UCLA Bruins. Crazy. Thanks again, Mr. Russell, for preserving and sharing the greatness!!!

I hope so! Dee got 3 in her tenure. Let's see if Stewie can top it!

One key to this win is that UConn played six for 196 minutes and ND played eight for 198. A deep bench is helpful when injuries or foul trouble exist, but Geno believes in having starters who can play all forty in big games. McGraw nailed it in the post game at 1:32 when she said she thought they could come back when they subbed... they didn't sub.

Those are all the important games... From all the Championships DVD(7) & last year Final Four(No more Women's Championship DVD)

wish natalie achonwa had played in this game. as a uconn fan & a basketball fan in general, it would've been awesome to see both teams at full strength. ND probably would've still lost but i think the game would've been more competitive down the stretch.

First of two or four meetings in the National Championship between these two teams for the title between Notre Dame and UConn for the women's title

Geno and the UCONN Huskies are the greatest coach and players tandem ever. If I were a hightly touted player comming out of high school. UCONN would be my only choice.

Linwood, Don't know how to thank you enough for posting the NCAA games. I wrote to everyone I could think of in authority to try get a DVD. No luck! I have been waiting for someone to post the games and you're the man. Now we need to get a better TV in-season package so we can watch this "new" team develop. Thanks again.

Linwood Russell: Don't know if you'll see this. I had a question about a UConn game and don't know where to put it. When I search online nothing comes up. Do you (or anyone reading) happen to remember during the Ketia Swanier years: They were playing on the opposing team's floor. It was a back and forth game, and near the end of the game, the other team was so excited that they might beat UConn (they were up by one, I think), that they started celebrating too early and didn't get back on defense and Ketia Swanier ran the length of the floor and put in a last second basket and destroyed the other team's premature celebration. Does anyone remember what year that was and the opponent they were playing?

As soon as i saw 6ft5 Stefanie Dolson l KNEW UCONN was winning this😂

Too bad ND wasnt at full strength. Uconn probably still would have won but the game would have been closer or competitive if Anchonwa played

dunking a basketball gives you a skill? My tall son can dunk a ball... but he cannot play or shot the mid-range basket. Majority of these women are taught the fundamentals over and over again.

i go to this basketball camp and 3 uconn players come to the camp

Still when the women's game was doing two halves not long after this one or two later the women's game for college started doing four quarters not long after that

UCONN goes 40 and 0. Notre Dame never did it! South Carolina never did it! UCONN women, for straight championships. Baylor never did it! UCONN men's and Women's champions in the same year... twice! Katlin who?

What a waste of money. Games played in almost empty arenas,no tv ratings at all, infomercials attract more viewers. The money spent to fly these teams all over the country is a joke, and where does the money come from it comes from the money the men's tourney generates. Women getting a full ride at universities to play BB,pitiful

The Games will never have the draws like the men's games. But they have some really good teams that fans support well. This new(old) format will see a larger draw this year tourney. I will be at the games in Albany & Tampa!

Men's college basketball any day over woman's basketball, you will never see a number 1 seed get upset in woman's college basketball ever!! The sport is so uncompetitive it's not even funny. Who wants to see the same team like uconn go undefeated and win the national championship year after year. I think I'll pass lol

People who loves WCBB... UCONN asa#1 team lost to Then #6 Stanford. So it does happens. Plenty of times a #1 team has lost in WCBB. Just not as often in the MCBB. THE Women ranking is more on talent then which team is hot. So the #1 team is truly the #1 team.

Clearly you are not well informed. It's the women's side that has seen the only #16 defeat a #1 seed. That has never happened on the men's side. It's been more competitive in some years than others. Clearly you don't watch anyway so why are you even on this page, if not just to troll.
