I was wondering, if you could explain how you choose your location and room like do I choose between the towers or the classics in middle earth? Also if I wanted to live in the towers, do I get to choose the number of people in my room or is it completely dependent on luck? Because in your video you mentioned "luck"... Thank you so much

So when you get your housing information you get to list your top options. You list your preference between Mesa court and middle earth. Then from there you list your preferences for either their tower or a regular hall if I remember correctly. The most important however is your preference for your room type (ie single, double, triple, quad). Your room type will dictate how much you pay, so naturally living in a quad is substantially cheaper then a single. So you list all of your preferences and UCI housing will try to meet your preferences. The luck factor I mentioned is because you don’t always get your top priority and could end up in something you may not have preferred. The only thing you can control in a way is if you know someone for a potential roommate, that will help you getting a preference.

Hi! I got into UCI as an undeclared major. I want to major in CompE. I was wondering what classes I need to take and how hard it would be to get into those classes as an undeclared? I understand that with CS its extremely competitive, is the same true for CompE? Also, in terms of getting help from professors and TA’s, how easy would that be? Would I be able to get “1 on 1” sessions? Are there tutors available? How big are class sizes? Thank you for helping out incoming freshman with your videos!!

Hello! There are tutors available for most classes on campus. Your best bet for “1 on 1” sessions as I said in prior video would be office hours especially early in the quarter. I’m not sure how competitive it may be. And if you go in undeclared you’ll start by taking one engineering class or something like that and do a lot of your GE’s until you commit to a major and get accepted to that school. If you want to know the classes you’ll need throughout for just your major google “UCI FLOWCHART COMPUTER ENGINEERING MAJOR” a flowchart will appear on sites from UCI and this is their “anticipated” schedule but it doesn’t always happen exactly as it says. Those are some of the classes you would need though

Are the single dorms available for freshman?

How’s the temperature in the rooms? I heard that there’s no AC 😭

For the most part not too bad, but right when you start school and right before you go on summer break it’s kind of bad. You can open your windows which is your best bet and if it gets too cold you do have a heater in the rooms!
