Hello and welcome to a new video on Uboat. In this video, we get command of our first uboat designated U-606 as we take her on a new mission to sink enemy shipping in the Norwegian Sea in the Battle of the Artic

UBOAT
UBOAT is a simulator of a submarine from WWII era, yet different than all you have seen so far. It is a survival sandbox with crew management mechanics while its primary theme is life of German sailors. The boat is their home, but it can become their grave at any time.
In UBOAT you control the crew in order to control the boat. You look after their physical and mental health, because if the sailors are hungry, tired and their spirit is low, there’s no chance of winning even a skirmish.
Survival
The extensive damage system is a foundation of the game's survival elements. Unprecedented situations are bound to happen as the effect of received damage, testing player's creativity and ability to stay calm. You can try to save the whole crew or leave someone behind, to save the others.
While your ship travels through the open seas, you will often find yourself being on your own. Use your management skills to spend resources taken on the trip optimally and in special cases try to recover them on the sea, by asking your allies for the help... or by looting wreckages of enemy ships.
Disable unnecessary devices, to keep your accumulators running for longer.
Tell your crew to stay in their bunks to preserve oxygen.
If crew's morale is low - play with them a session of Skat or play music from nearby radio stations, to fortify their hearts.
Kriegsmarine career
During the playthrough you will receive assignments from the Kriegsmarine headquarters. They are never linear and you may receive additional orders during them or face unexpected problems.
Brave completion of assignments from the headquarters is rewarded with additional budget for the unit under your command and with acceptance of your growing reputation as an u-boat's skipper. You will need that, to upgrade your ship and keep up with enemy's technological advances.
Upgrade your boat for the rewarded funds.
Receive additional permissions for the reputation points.
Buy new equipment - new torpedo types, sonar decoys, CO2 absorbers and much more.
Send your officers on special tasks in the headquarters to, among other things, speed up a research of new technologies.
Accurate simulation
Game's simulation elements are very realistic, but that never comes at a cost of gameplay quality. Despite extensive simulation elements, UBOAT can be played like a regular game and complex matters can be learned later to become a better skipper for the commanded unit.
Even small things like the influence of ballast in each compartment on the ship's trim (tilt) or Earth's curvature are faithfully reproduced in the game.
Perfection can be achieved in many ways. Prove your management skills and swiftly assign work to your officers to speed things up. If, on the other hand, you think that if something needs to be done, it's better to do that on your own - sit behind the periscope, hydrophone or 88 mm deck gun and take matters in your own hands!

U-606, has sunk 10 merchant ships for 34,713 tons. She is also credited with sinking 1 warship for 7,890 warship tonnage. (using rough sources for the displacement) Kirov-class Cruiser "Kirov" (Assuming it is the Kirov, as the only other ship close to the area in 1942 was sister ship Maxim Gorky.)
Excellent episode taff, great work on those Enemy merchants.. but the sinking of that Soviet cruiser was the real epic cherry on the cake. A handsome amount of tonnage sent to the seabed and more crew experience gained. The Arctic convoys we're real horrific, and that's a great example shown as to why, much respect to both sides that fought in that campaign.. this is why I love this series, just so gripping and makes you appreciate a lot more what they went through. Great episode, looking forward to the next one, keep it up mate 👍

Well done, Taff! I knew you'd find it impossible to turn down the chance to have a pop at that Kirov Class! There's nothing more satisfying than seeing a large capital warship being sent to Davy Jones's Locker! I wasn't expecting a bang from the rearward torpedo shot on that C3 the Orson D. Munn on your stern. It was only just under 600 metres away at launch, and normally those don't arm in time and you only get a metallic clunk of a dud. What a piece of good luck that was!

Hello taff, very interesting and a good hunting, my grandad was on the "Kriegsmarine" as a Radioman and sometime as a secretary , also at Bergen, he survived the war and was POW. sorry for my awful english.. good hunting and til soon, best regards from austria.
The last attempt at the large convoy with the FAT torpedo didn't go astray, you just forgot to adjust (27:28) the distance for the turn. I've done this myself quite a bit and didn't know why this type of torpedo wasn't working properly.

You'd catch on fire pretty readily too if you got hit by a torpedo in the boiler room with all those explosive gases and stuff, and there were several secondary gun turrets there just above where the first torpedo impacted, so presumably ammunition stores would not be a million miles away from the danger zone either. Sounds a pretty volatile environment to me!

@@colindouglas7769 Yes, that's why life at sea is probably the worst, that's one of the most regimented lifestyle from my understanding. So many things can go wrong.

Ooooh that is lucky kill, bagged yourself a Kirov class cruiser. One the soviet unions rare pool of modern heavy cruisers, talk about a rare target to add to your tally.
Love your vids. In SH5, did you have issues with ships appearing too low in the water when viewing them through optics? It happens with me and drives me nuts. They could be at relatively short ranges and still appears that way.
Could you do an episode or two talking more in depth about what you're inputting into that console because I swear it makes no sense to me xD
I kinda lost hope on them adding more significant ships. 4 years? And we have an handful or waships.
I do wish the Devs would create a mod where you can have a Commanded Fleet cossing the atlantic with a Human Opponent on both sides.

does anyone else have ,major pop in when they say go into scapa or really any port or is it just me using a min specd laptop to play it lol all in all it runs really good on it just has some major pop in like sometimes a ship pops in on top of me ....
Is there an easy mode in this game so I dont have to perform all those calculations for the missile to hit? Like, aim and the computer does the calulations?

In the menu you can disable "hardcore aiming mode". I think you will need to start a new savegame though.
Have you ever "accidentally" surfaced beneath a life raft and caused it to capsize? 😈

I believe I remember Taff in a different incarnation surfacing right underneath a corvette once! That was fun although I think that one was in one of his SH5 series!
Keep rocking Herr Taff i love your Uboat series. I kind of play along with you. I love being able to hunt like they did. I hunt Boar in Texas with a MOISIN Nagant and a SKS . The thrill of the hunt is greatest thing a MAN (not a man with a female penis.) can do.
Question why not use A.P. rounds to make a hole then follow up with H.E. rounds
There should be some consequences for forcing your deck gun crew to work in arctic storms. In real life14:30 would be literally the death sentence for any sailor.
Is there a mod or a dlc where you can play as the US submarines in the Pacific? They basically did the same.
