From the "Lamentos A Poema Muerto" album released on July 16, 2007.
Lamentos a Poema Muerto is their second full length album and the first to be released through “Octagon Music Group” in 2007. It features 7 tracks, 6 out of which are actual compositions and 3 of whom were released previously on demo eps.
A soft intro starts the album off with the sound of rain and the cries of birds setting the mood for the deppressive endeavor to follow. Two quiet acoustic guitars and a piano start off the first track "La Escritura Y El Alarido" joined by a light drumbeat and a monk-like chant around the two minute mark. All of this over a quiet later of acoustic guitars and flutes creates a musical landscape that will give you something new with every listen. A beautiful guitar solo closes the song on a high note. However no matter how beautiful this mix might be, it doesnt variate for most of the album with only very occassional and short ventures into heavier territory (as far as the instruments are concerned this album can hardly be called metal) to offer some variety. And though Uaral's niche is definetly the quiet strumming of acoustic guitars it seems rather ironic that such an experimental band doesn't venture much outside of its comfort zone.

Got me through some of my darkest days... catharsis is the result of some of the most depressing music outlets. Seems like an oxymoron... Uaral was a lifesaver... Drudkh too... Agalloch too... Empyrium too... Maybe I have a soft spot for folk driven doom and black metal. Just so beautiful and soothing. Depression and anxiety becomes a secondary facet of life for the hour. Stay strong humans....
Beautiful sadness... Indescribable emotions... Maybe this is what an unfulfilled death sounds like. What a gem.

I only heard of this genre a month or two back on a thread about extreme metal on a classical board. I'm not a big metal fan, only just heard of this band 44m32s ago and I love it. Not what I anticipated from the words "Funeral Doom Metal" [musicbrainz]
