In regards to the advice on Covid-19, Hmong folks are two face I feel. In this context, I am referencing that Hmong ppl have that saying for karma (like most ethnicities IE: life is an echo please be careful what you send out or it will echo back at you aka Chinese proverb about karma) bc one it is universal like you mentioned (even tho there are some cultures who don't believe in it) AND two the saying is applicable for EVERYONE, not just for Hmong ppl. Trauma and guilt can cause the brain to cope in abnormal ways. Whether spirits are real or not, only those that have gone on would know. As they say, the dead can’t speak.

I worked in healthcare for a long time and had a lot of creepy encounters and dealt with people who can see spirits from many spectrums. Some may have mental health conditions where they can’t distinguish what’s real and unreal and some are able to see it bc it’s there. My views were challenged when I had a patient who told me that there was something in the room. Next thing you know, I saw a cup moving on its own in the mirror and the patient screamed and told that thing to get out. I never questioned anyone who see spirits since then bc I may never know what they’re going through.

Our body is "super" charged when activated, and we do incredible physical things. But our culture, traditionally, uses it in a more negative way for control. Especially the control of children.
