Man, New York from ATYCLB is so underrated! If we get an album soon with a tour then it needs to be back on the setlist. This version of NY is my favourite though!

I remember hearing it live on radio when I was absolutely obsessed with U2 at the ripe age of 15. Download the set from Napster and had it on repeat for months

Wow what a show. I've seen them live 21 times & I'm sorry I didnt go to this one. They are the greatest live band ever. The MSG concert a month after 911 was the best one I have been to. If you were not there, it's hard to explain the incredible pure emotion, joy, grief, sadness, relief & fun all in one. Their shows have amazing displays of high-tech. But I have always felt U2 are at their best without all the fancy effects. The surprise concert at the Brooklyn Bridge is another great example. So is Red Rocks. This Irving Plaza concert must have been an epic show to have experienced. Love them in this intimate setting. It fits them perfectly. The only thing missing was them playing Where the Streets Have no name & With or Without You.

Best moment ever! So grateful to have witnessed this.

A hidden gem of a show. 10/10.

Respect from a little band in Canada 🇨🇦✌️

This is the first time since U2's early career in about 1981 that they played in a club. It was done to promote their upcoming "All that you can leave behind" album which was considered their "return to basics" after a long decade of experimentation in the 90's. Most of the attendees were contest winners, friends of the band and celebrities.

I saw the Elevation tour 3 times in 2001, Pittsburgh, DC and Baltimore. All were amazing, especially Baltimore, after 9/11

If I remember correctly, this gig was considered their comeback show. They were out of the spotlight for three years and they changed their image again to a rock band after the Zoo TV and Pop eras.

I went to the 10/21/01 show at MSG. Greatest concert of all time. Pure emotion. There will never be another show like that again

ATYCL TIME OF MY YOUTH ... PARTY LIFE going out. Drinking fun girls... Had nearby a catchy bar. Always played 4,5 songs of the boston dvd 📀 It f.....g killed me 😃😀😀

I was at the surprise @u2 birthday party in NYC in 2015 when Edge and Adam showed up and played Streets and Out of Control with the tribute band. I about died. It's the greatest U2 memory I have.

They sure played it a lot back in 2001 - 2002. It got spooky after 9/11 though. Jeez, CNN played a snippet of the song while they showed a scene of recovery crews digging through the WTC rubble.

Please name a concert that was more demonstrative of a band revealing itself for good or ill. The edge and Bono may have their quirks, but their punk rock/ Greenwich Village origin story that fleshes itself out here rings true to this naive critic. And, in all truth, that story comes of surprisingly truthful. Really quite believable, in this narrative from bono. Regardless, a good show speaks for ittsellf.

Pretty good cover of The Who at the end. I now U2 have a TON of great songs, but it'd be interesting to see what else they they'd be good at covering.

For one, This video is over 12 years old (December 2000), two, it was probably never meant to be seen by the masses.

Bono still had some Popmart moves here.

I remember it well... Tickets for the public were only radio contest winners, they did not sell tickets. Also friends in the music business and other connected types got in.

I think the show you're referring to was at Madison Square Garden and was the opening show of the Elevation Tour. I believe U2 considered the best show of the tour anyway... dunno about all-time.

Did Bono cut short the lyrics of Bad on purpose?

On this night, U2 had had enough of all the critics. POP was considered a failure. This was the night the world found out that U2 wasn't putting up with "failure". ATYCLB (elevation tour), HTDAAB (vertigo tour) and NLOTH (360 tour) all left the so called critics with nothing left to ask, other than, "Umm; When's your next album?".
