that 1at time that Bono sang/band performed song"BAD" Live IN DUBLIN(home)was Perfection his voice was so good He has infectious grace ,strength,and even when it's not perfect his spirit just shines through I see those leather pants & wonder who chose them him?or a stylist more likely lol but hes always worn the leather throughout the years They kind of crack me up considering who the band is and all miss them high oh ohohs oh no I'm not sleeping!Side Awake!!

Bono sings a bit of Candle In the Wind by Elton John and Fool to Cry by The Rolling Stones before singing that bit of The First Time. According to Bill Flanagan’s book U2 At the End of the World, Mick Jagger was in the crowd.

My favorite U2 concert EVER!!! Had this on two tape records since the day of the concert when I was 13 years old and I still have it with me 22 years later! U2 was on the top of their game that night in Dublin. Each and every song was memorable and a moment for eternity!

Damn.. I can’t believe there’s other people out there who share the same passion for this show, as I do. I remember being in a Utica motel room, listening to this concert live on the radio. My dad, my older brother, and myself were dropping off my other older brother at college the next day. We didn’t even know the concert was gonna air, but we just happened to catch it on the radio just as it started. We layed on the motel beds and the floor, and absorbed every song. To this day, my favorite concert of all time. Beautiful!

i was there, fantasic gig

I was at the gig RDS Dublin , i witnessed U2 live past 3 decades 17 shows in total , without question it was best Bad performance , no U2 gig better than them playing at home , Slane Castle both gigs were the best , not just cause of the performance best venue on earth , natural landscape with a history , and hearing the Unforgettable fire live in very location they recorded such within the caste , and knowing they backed Thin Lizzy 20 years before , never be a gig to top Slane just was party .

This song is absolutely brilliant and if it does not give you chills you not a fan.Unbelievable.

Remember listening to this on radio 1 2 weeks after seeing them at Roundhay Park,this gig is one of the best I've ever seen or heard 🔥

One of the best songs ever and live and deadly raw

I had this tape I made in my car for years. Somewhere around the 4:00 mark Bono gets a sudden inspiration and really kicks it up. The second "Wide Awake," not in falsetto, sent true chills down my spine hundreds of times, including today. Also, Mysterious Ways from this concert, especially the coda, has to be the best ever.

Amazing song and amazing preformace. This is probably the best U2 concert bootleg around, not because of picture quality or the sound(which is really good) but because this is just such a good concert.

True, I have it on CDR (now copied to my Ipod) and it was Live on Radio in the States too. I remember listening to it on my Walkman in Boston.

I think cos the Live at Sydney Show, which was going to take place in November that Year, was already Scheduled to be recorded and officially released. Mind you that was a Video, they could have released this as an Official Live Album. That said, they encouraged Fans to Tape the Show from the Radio, as they did the NYE1898 Gig.

It's a combination of three songs. I think 5:33 is a snippet from "Candle in the wind" by Elton John, 6:07 is a snippet from "Fool to cry" and 6:20 onwards is a snippet from "The First Time"

Actually i'm kind of intrigued by this. From the lyrics: [5:33] 'They crawled out of the woodwork', is from Elton John. Then bono goes on to sing what seems like: "onto pages of change, good old magazines" which isn't part of Candle in the wind, and he then follows up with "you had the grace to hold yourself, while those around you crawled" which is from a different part of Elton John's song. But i don't think the 'pages of change' part is a snippet from anything. Sounds kinda cool though, maybe it's got something to do with the way Michael Jackson was treated in the tabloids (magazines).

Does anyone know why is he talking about Michael Jackson at the beginning?
