Me too inside the heart, unforgettable night!

My God, the guy with the Irish flag cap around 16:00 - I just showed my litte son, this was daddy 20 years and kilos ago...no smartphones, just the vibes and sound - unforgettable. What a night, close to be cancelled because of the thunderstorm in the afternoon, German comedian Michael Mittermeier as spontaneous support act. A very special U2 concert. "Und das ist gut so" "And it's good this way" a reference and Welcome to the Berlin mayor who just had his coming out with this phrase. Great memories! Thanks for this video!

been there, what a great night and weekend in Berlin with some friends from Hamburg. 22 years ago? Omg. 🙂 The audience celebrated when we learned that Xavier Naidoo und Band were NOT going to play - what a relief :-) Comedian Michael Mittermaier came on spontaneously instead. He was nervous but did OK.

Oh My God!!! I didn't know this video existed. I just searched out of curiosity. I was there, inside the heart, soaking wet from the thunderstorm, ankle deep in the mud! Unbelievable night. That intro of Streets still remains the best moment I've ever had in a concert.

I was at that concert! Travelled all the way from Cork to Berlin, via Frankfurt (flew to Frankfurt, then car to Berlin the next day from a village called Worms). Think there was about 20,000 at the venue, about the max, so it felt "intimate" enough. Support was meant to be from Söhne Mannheims, but they got replaced by the comedian Micheal Mittermeier, who only got the call the day before! Concert was lucky to go ahead as there was a really bad storm the night before.Then, a couple of days later, doing the tourist thing, got to see Bono up close and personal, he was staying in the Adlon Hotel near the Brandenburg Gates, just missed seeing the Edge and Wim Wenders. (Only went as I lost out in trying to get tickets for the first Slane concert. Ended up going to the second Slane concert. "Win win" if I may say so myself!)

Michael Mittermeier attend that show as a visitor and was asked spontaneous at that day to do the support, because the Söhne Mannheims were stuck at the driveway and couldn`t be in berlin timely. The whole day was a bit chaos. I was at this show too and i remember how wet i was from the rain. I've waited from 10am at the doors of the Waldbuhne. I remember too that there were a few injurys because of people falling down the Stone-Stairways because of the wet surface. Bad thing.

My best U2 gig so far. Amazing atmosphere. A very special night. Thanks for playing this after the rain.

It was really the best concert ever. I still remember the day: it was raining all day. I came by car and was lucky to find a parking spot next to the left side entrance. Due to the rain there where not many people waiting there. And I could watch the entrance from my car. A couple of minutes the official opening of the main entrance this side entrance opened. I jumped out of the car and got into Waldbühne as one of the first people to get in. I remember coming out of the forest and this super steep and wide Waldbühne opened before my eyes. I couldn’t believe it - there was no one there. I happily jumped down step by step into the very first row. I stood right before The Edge. He flipped two picks during the concert. I kept one. The other one I gave to the dutch guy to my left.

Söhne Mannheims was supposed to be the support act. But their backline was stuck in traffic and the where too late. Michael Mittermeyer was pretty popular at the time and also a big U2 fan. He was backstage and was asked to fill in and perform. He was good, but also super nervous, because he had never had performed in front of so many people. I saw his legs and butt shaking. I still remember that…

Mein KZread-Fund des Jahres!!! Das war doch irgendwer ewig unter Verschluss, oder? Suchte ich damals (als man noch VHS-Mitschnitte sammelte) vergeblich (ebenso wie München 2001, das scheinbar immer noch nicht existiert). Ich war dabei (ebenso 2 x in Köln, in München sowie 2 x in London). Großartige Band, großartige Tour - und dieses Konzert hier ein HIghlight. Was soll man da sonst noch dazu sagen? U2 live - kaum zu schlagen. Dass ein Mädel in Ramones-Shirt auftauchte, daran konnte ich mich sogar noch dunkel erinnern, da musste ich doch gleich mal danach suchen. Ab 57:30. "In a little while" - auch eines dieser wunderschönen U2-Stücke, die ein bisschen "unter dem Radar laufen". - könnte man ruhig mal wieder aufleben lassen. Mal schaun, was 2023 so bringt. :) Ich bin gar nicht so der Konzerte-Auf-You-Tube-Seher-Typ (lieber in echt...), aber hier muss ich mir schnell noch ein bisschen Gänsehaut abholen...

I honestly thought that Slane Castle and Turin were the only two shows played outdoors. Well today I’ve just been educated 😂
