U.S. Surgeon General Vivek H. Murthy delivered the keynote speech at the Arizona State University undergraduate commencement ceremony on Monday, May 8th in Sun Devil Stadium. His message to students was to put people first and appreciate the love of those who got them to the graduation stage in the first place. Murthy is the first Surgeon General of Indian descent and the youngest active duty flag officer in federal uniformed service. He has led the nation through health challenges including the Ebola and Zika viruses, the opioid crisis, and the growing threat of stress and loneliness to American’s physical and mental well-being.
