    This is very, very cool to see. Im sure the guy speaking knows since he's been a Seal but this means the world to guys who served with and operated with Navy Seals. I was in the Corps at 3/1 Pendleton and served with a seal team with force recon on a MSPF (maritime special purpose force) unit with the 13th MEU. Thanks so much for the work on the museum and God bless you guys.

    North River Boats built a similar high performance craft for USAF SAR and specops missions that looked amazing in the press release. I doubt they would be as highly polished and slick looking as they were in the news after a few missions

    At 5:18 about the boat he says "the one on my left" , I actually have one of those boats. Have planned on doing a re-power on it. Also planning to install seating in it. Mine is about 39ft long, very heavy built. Mostly built with kevlar instead of fiberglass.

  • @jslade60

    @jslade60

    2 жыл бұрын

    The first one Halter Marine built was made of Kevlar it had the outboard drives with two Detroit diesel engines. Original color of the first prototype was white with a black arrow on the sides. I always wondered what happened to this boat also the prototype Mark v which looked just like the Mark v at the museum except it didn't have the MTU diesels and waterjet drive it had the Detroit's with outdrives! These two prototypes were at the yard in New Orleans East when John Dane the third declared bankruptcy and these boats were supposed to be sold at auction but were pulled at the last minute and their fate is still unknown! Also up for auction that was pulled was the e-cat. A catamaran with twin 16 cylinder Caterpillar engines and water jet drives. I help building design some of this boat had my heart and soul in it and also the fate of it is unknown as it was also pulled from the auction.

    I was checking out some pics of the current SDV yesterday and noticed there are totally updated navionics in them compared to what you can see around the 4:30 mark in this video. I can only guess, but after hours of work in the cold environment that flat touchscreens would be great to use compared to trying to twist small control knobs in the older equipment.

    During the SNA conference, the Austal representative made reference to the FFG(X) specification changing from a missile-plus-radar Sea RAM installation to the larger box launcher which holds more missiles but has no radar of its own. Can you write a Naval News article on how the FFG(X) specifications have changed since the program started? I would doubt there has only been one change - that's not how military procurement works.
