5 years before I was born . 23 years before I enlisted.
Thank you for posting. I remember my oldest brother coming home from Marine bootcamp in San Diego in 1973. In the end, all three of my older brothers became Marines and I enlisted in the Navy 😊. So seeing this family reception of the young Marine recruit with his family is very interesting and heart-warming.

Wow...reminds me of myself, coming home after basic training at MCRD Parris Island in 1974. There is one detail that helps to date the film: he is wearing Marine Corps emblems on his shirt collar. This was an unusual uniform innovation that only existed for a brief period. Unfortunately, I can't tell you off the top of my head what that period was. Someone with more time than I have will have to look it up. Very enjoyable video. I'd love to know what became of him.

I noticed that too (Parris Island 1981).
