That's a B-52H, when they get new engines and a new radar it might look a bit different, but that won't happen till 2028 at the earliest. So ya, they do look like that today and will for several years more.

What's horrible about a B52 takeoff? It could have been a MITO (minimum interval take off) but certainly not an emergency nor horrible. But just wait until it gets its new, modern engines, the F130s. Then you'll ready see something. Yes, you'll see less smoke. No, that's it for the takeoff improvements. Less smoke. The takeoff roll will be the same, the climb out will be the same, the weapons load will be the same, and the overall performance will be the same. With the added bonus of longer missions because the new engines are more fuel efficient. And that could mean fewer air-to-air refuelings unless they actually plan for longer missions.

I grew up in the Cold War , don’t be fooled by vids like this.
