U.S. Army Basic Mountaineering Course (BMC)
Mountaineering is a specialized skill offered by the Army in Vermont and Alaska. Gail McCabe reports that in the nation's 49th state, it attracts a wide range of soldiers who want to see if they have what it takes.
Of the 39 soldiers that began the course, 28 passed. All say they will share their newly earned skills with their units- some of which are preparing to deploy to Afghanistan.

Go infantry or 19d at fort drum. Make sure you get airborne in your contract.

So...I'm super late to this but I'd imagine, if you're already aware, that the 55Lbs is minimum. With all the ropes, ammo, weapons, water, food, radios, etc...you're right it's closer to 90-110lbs
