Most of what he talks about is quite easy to conclude if you have spent any amount of time thinking about those things with an open mind. Personally for me he is not talking anything earth shattering or deeply insightful. I have a feeling that he goes out of his way in his manner of speech, to show that he doesn't give a damn what others think of him, which is another way, but not in any way unique in trying to impress one's audience. Many do that. I wonder what the whole fuss is about.

This man was ahead of his time but he definitely had his delusions. He also talked a lot of non-sense and often engaged in pointless debate. But, he had a few good points like the ones about spirituality deluding people and becoming commercialized. This distinction between the material and spiritual has caused a lot of damage to humanity. Humans in reality are like any other organisms with a more potent intelligence. Any species can last a few million years and human species may not even reach that with the way we have been destroying the planet. But the planet will survive a few billion years in any case. Human beings on the other hand definitely won't.

Truth is very subtle, even for the wise. UG missed the point of truth and illusionly took wrong turn. In his talk, he mention, he had vision. In that vision, something is aware of something else. But he can't figure out what it is? That's where the Buddha, Jesus and many other saints guide human beings to proper understanding. To see. Even J krishmurti describe that awareness as,"what is" but he also can't figure out the working of wisdom. In samanaphala sutta, Buddha mention the seed of suffering (which is root of becoming) is present. He termed it as Dukkha. Next how to uproot that root is the wisdom. By purity, faith and uprightness that root gets weaken, starting to come out of the surface. The light comes to him who have started to walk on the path to uproot it. Samma means one with that light. When one totally surrender to that light, one have vision. In that vision one can see, the root, ground on which it grows, who uprooted it and where it goes. These are the four Noble truth. UG had these vision of Noble truth, but can't figure it out. Although he uprooted it, but missed the point of how it happened. Sadly discourage the mankind of any hope and said there is no way. Although free yet bound to illusion. Although very slight kind of illusion. Dependent origination formula is very subtle and hard to understand. Many goes insane. Only wise could understand it! May all will tread the path!

If a man has found a path that leads to a certain place by accident, he can very well show others how to get there by showing them that path and he can also prevent others from going astray. A guru can easily ignite the already dry fire wood which is long waiting for the fire.

  • @Naypa11

The problem is why should anyone follow his path or care about going astray? You (not you directly) assume value on his "state" and desire to have that state labled enlightenment, so you follow his path. Yet, you are still desiring something, you're wanting to attain something, you want to be something other than yourself. You attach value to the wood burning because you think it's a desirable action, its a meaningful purposeful action. The wood not burning and the wood burning are the same exact thing. If you try to say either are useful or useless, well, that is because you have projected usefulness into the woods action. It is neither useful nor it is useless, duality comes when you project either states onto the wood.

@@uk2727 Do not attach importance or value to any others interpretation of something, let me hear your interpretation. You attach value to a state of desirelessness, which now causes the pursuit of desirelessness a desire itself. If you were not to attach importance to the abscence of desire, desirelessness and desire would not harm you. You superimpose duality because of your likes and dislikes, your wants and aversions. By mentioning Eckhart and Osho, you create separation because you assume value to their words over someone else words. It's all the same, all the same, you add more concepts about things that do not exist, such as "seeking and going astray". They don't exist. You dislike frustration and anger and desire, and because of that you value those who portray the absence of frustration anger and desire. Your own ideals about what someone should be has been fed to you.

If a man is pretentious for preaching the unity of nature, he who does moral violence through reason and secularism is up to his neck on the other side of the same intellectual quagmire with the further lack of self awareness of thinking himself above the religious. Even if you get rid of the divine, all it does is leave a perfectly god shaped hole in your psyche. Since his outline can still be seen, it's like he never left. A person who feels the need to destroy symbols is still enslaved by them. Or worse is subject to absolute philistinism. Where then is the light at the end of the tunnel? What's the point of all these cons when nobody profits off of them? Even the one's who literally make money off of it still have to keep up with their own rat race of being holy all the time. You're only free from the idols when you understand that they are part of who you are. Therefore it doesn't matter if you worship them or not.
