Samuel Mason This submarine once had Harry Truman on it...the first time in history a president has ever been on a sub...so yea its a museum piece. It was also way ahead of its time. Had the Germans produced more of these subs, they probably could have won the war.

Samuel Mason Wouldn't cost that much since the wreck is only 250 feet deep...well within range of scuba divers. But lets assume it does. 1.5 million people visit the U-505 annually. If you charged $15 for admission, you'd make a profit within a year. Hell if you towed it to washington, and put it on display there, you could charge less, and still make a profit because theres a much higher tourist rate.

+Samuel Mason Its a project that is feasible. You dont need a ship to raise it. You get divers down there to patch the holes, fill it with air, then tow it. Much cheaper. And now with 3D printers, remaking parts is now more easy than ever. In fact, they are currently using 3D printers to restore WW2 aircraft back to airworthiness. But all that doesn't mean anything to you, because you have no respect for historical items. I know this piece of history will never be raised and restored. Should it be? I think so, but thats irrelevant, and does not matter.

James Valenti dude it’s so deteriorated that it wouldn’t be worth display, also it would fall apart after being lifted.

It reminds me of what the Sweeds did to their Tiger 2 from the war, they destroyed it in weapons testing, you don't destroy things that have or could have significant historical value.

I love how this is a dive on an incredibly historic wreck and the voice over is mostly two nerds talking about fish. God bless the owner of the female voice.

When we are talking about anything of value you can bet your pants on the Americans to use it for target practice!
