This song is a rollecoaster. Happy, sad, happy, sad, happy, sad, happy, mixed at the end...

My father used to play this late at night; usually drunk. I was but a child. I once peered around a door to see him at the piano...... crying as he played this. I have not listened to it since that night almost 60 years ago. I did, however, listen to it today. And I, like he, wept. In time and in forgiveness we are all healed.

With each passing year of my life, I become more and more amazed by the pure genius of JS Bach. This piece is so "simple" on the surface but gets more profound with each subsequent hearing. Unadulterated beauty and perfection. This man was the greatest of all composers for all time.

Simple, yet complex. repetitive, yet always a surprise. Beautiful and calm yet somehow tense. Only 600 or so notes. One of the musical pieces on the Gold record on Voyager space probe. - Thanks to James Gleick for inspiring me to revisit this piece.

Oscar Goldman wow! after few minus of browsing those comments i've found one that actually says something (a bit)….just when i thought that this piece somehow hypnotises people and make it impossible for them to say anything but "nice", "great", "well played", "perfect"….lol!

the genius of Bach. Our modern tuning all hinges on this portfolio. Without him, we wouldn't have ANY of the music we enjoy today.... not many people know that

If there is one thing I want to learn on this earth before I die is to learn how to play the piano and play these beautiful songs

LOVE this interpretation: perfect pace, so smoothly played. I got tingles at 1:35... (and the cheeky little trill at the end!)

Bach glorious Bach. Ever a favourite, who speaks to that eternal rhythm within, for which words are rendered superfluous.

Great performance. I love this prelude. Actually piano is not my instrument but I worked on this piece, decipher the notes, watch a lot of youtube videos and at last learnt to play it. But still I can't reach that level. You absolutely give your emotion to the music. Thank you very much.

If someone wants to know the definition of beauty and delicacy, you just have to listen to this.That beauty and delicacy can not be transmitted by words, only heard by the heart.

The one word that comes to mind when I hear this piece is Perfection. To me Bach is everything music has in its best, its most prime and sacred, even tho I really like other composers, none gets me as deeply as Bach does.

I "play" this piece, but after hearing this recording realize I need to set a whole new standard. Thank you for the beautiful performance and for "setting the stage" for what I should be aspiring to achieve.

Stupendous! I love the camera view on the fingers especially. It adds to the softness and beauty of the piece.

I was 5 when I first heard Bach's prelude and tears ran down my pure and fair cheeks. So I was finally born to a world of constant awareness of the moving power of music and the universal language of the poets, philosophers and every other sensitive shy soul like mine.

0:27 to 0:37 is the most beautiful thing I've ever heard. Especially that note @ 0:33

Believe it. or not, I first heard this played by James Last and the perfection of the piece came through so beautifully that I had to learn the piano music by heart. A famous artist once said that he played it to welcome the day, every day.

It's good music, nothing is wrong with you

Great expression in this and I love the focus on the forte sections. My only observation when I listened to it was the decision to omit Bar 23 from the original score. It's the most discordant bar in the piece but Bach wrote it for a reason. But unless someone knows the piece well, this will go unnoticed and you do play it so beautifully.

I think its a life story that can as well describe any person, each measure of the song is a different emotion you feel and its balanced perfectly. From one transition to the other.
