Soccer tourney model is pretty much what ever sponsor is in the title will have a purse for the winning team at the end of the season. In season tournament would be perfect for g league players to get first team action. Most big ( soccer) clubs down grade the line up a bit in tournaments playing weaker opposition as well. Player’s new to the league would benefit.

I think the in season tournament should incentive teams to do better in playoffs. If a team wins the in season tournament they should: 1) automatically get one game in the NBA finals. If the team does not make the finals then too bad OR 2) winner of the in season tournament gets to choose their 1ST ROUND OPPONENT in their conference

  • @farhanhafiz1924

YOOOOOOO JJ, When y’all started talking about a mid season cup and the merits of having one, I totally agree with all the points presented; from Ty mentioning that it would only mean something to younger less established teams, to you mentioning that older teams locked into chasing a chip’ not not being incentivized to participating. But what if a mid season tournament further built upon the play-in? Let’s say you do a single game elimination mid season tournament where only teams ranked 5-10 in their respective conferences participated with the prize at the end being the right to swap playoff seeding with another team that participated in the tournament. Imagine a 10th seed winning the cup and then swapping playoff seeds with a 5th seed and forcing that team into the play-in. Imagine a 7th seed swapping with a 6th seed to get a more favorable matchup? I think doing this in favor of the ASG makes a ton of sense, not saying that we get rid of all-star selections but they really should be ceremonial as i get that they factor into how players are paid. Curious to hear your guy’s thoughts

This is kind of a crazy idea and maybe I can be easily convinced it's dumb , but to really make the stakes and value of a mid season tournament meaningful to fans and players ,the winner should get a first round playoff bye. Actually now I'm trying to figure out how the playoff brackets would work then 🤔 ok maybe it's dumb.

JJ, do you think every American work force should be entitled to 50% of the business' total revenue? I'm thinking about how NBA players immediately get 51% of all BRI. Te be honest, I don't think that percentage is nearly enough. Nevertheless, I'm curious if this would be something you might consider advocating. It would go a long way if NBA players supported this effort.

In-season cups work in european football because they have been there for close to or over 100 years in most cases, they are steeped in tradition. They have always meant something even if they have meant less in recent years. The NBA can't just go ok we're doing a brand new is-season tournament with no history that likely means little to nothing, it won't work
