Have you guys seen the new co-op horde mode made by the poorhammer podcast? It is really well written and I think you guys could do an awesome battle report of it to show it off and spread the word. Just a suggestion!

Combat Patrol is such a fun format for 40K, but this is for sure a weird pairing. I am curious if they will push our balance updates for the teams. It’s all digital so feels like it’s easier for them to do.

The issue is that it won't match the physical boxes, which was one of the main selling points of a simple, one box game mode.

@@CatCraineadmec as an army just needs all it's data sheets tuned up to the next tier and bump up all their points. They cost way too much for how mediocre there data sheets are. If every unit in this box was like 20% better the game would have been much closer.

@@CatCraine I'm suggesting they tune the contents of the box, since one of the notable things they did with Combat Patrol was not have the datasheets match actual 40K. They could make the units included stronger in a variety of ways: better saves, shooting, etc. Give them bespoke abilities. Change their stratagems. There is lots of room to improve any team while keeping the models the same.

@@funkaoshi I completely agree. I would much rather have admech play like expensive glass-cannons with some crazy tech combos. However, going by the recent balance changes, they're leaning into a horde style army instead.

Dawn of war deployment on the long sides in combat patrol does not go well from what I've seen. You need to deploy on short sides to delay the melee combat. They restricted over-shooty teams w/ poor loadouts to prevent an instant tabling which wasn't a terrible idea but when you mix it w/ long side deployment the melee units can get in and cripple the shooter army on turn 2 making it almost a guarantied loss.

played an admech combat patrol against my dad who had orks. it was his second game ever. i got tabled end of battle round 3, and i think the vp was like 50-20, or smth absurd, the new admech combat patrol looks like it *might* be an increase

I always love to see Mechanicus, but you are absolutely right to say they suck. The point cost and list-building has been updated, but the combat patrol has only gotten worse as these changes haven't carried over.

Not only is the Admech combat patrol now only 375 points, but it makes you take the worst loadouts possible for most of the contents, and even removes the army rule from the Kataphron Destroyers. It's nerfs on top of nerfs to an already awful faction. I struggle to think how it can win a game against any other combat patrol. You could practically use two Admech combat patrols and you'd still lose to the Dark Angels one I'd bet.

I liked the part where you thanked your Patrons right before flying away with your helicopter that could be clearly heard in the background.

Nice game - i'm playing Nyds too. But - the Barbgaunt was not allowed to fire into the Crawler because its an explosive weapon and the crawler is in close combat. (explained in the weapon section of the rulebook)

that ad mech scheme is gorgeous

For those who don't know, Mechanicus is currently the worst Patrol win-rate wise from tracked matches at 25% real win rate (without mirror matches). Hope they do some balancing eventually. Also the strat usage of the nids was questionable. The hit rerolls on turn 2 was wasted when shooting something like a Tank on Termis and you coulda used the -1 to hit strat on the Barbs to potentially save one. Also shoot them before the Psychophage so you get +2 attacks per model instead of +1.

Where did you find these statistics? I am struggling to find them. Till now i saw 8 combat patrol games but only 2 where one sided from the start. Several other games where only decided in the 5 turn. Therefore i thought that they are balanced. More or less.

@@uwesca6263 if you google 40k stats, it's one of the first results. You can check CP games there amongst regular games. Yeah I have a similar experience, albeit it heavily depends on the factions. There's many that can compete on roughly even footing, but some are near on unwinable (Space Marines for example against Nids is almost unwinable).

@@theStamax thank you. It appears i was on the right side but i was to dumb to navigate proberly. Overall it looks ok i guess? 15 out of 24 are between 40-60%. 6 at 30% Only demons and world eaters are far ahead and only mechanicum is dead last. I guess these ratios could be a bit more balanced with easy datasheet updades. Funny thing is i recently read a comment from one guy who declared that his space marines always beat his friends tyranids.

@@uwesca6263 it's pretty unbalanced, albeit in similar brackets it's mostly ok from my experience. That's indeed interesting, although i suspect they are either misinterpreting rules or the nid player isn't that knowledgeable. Sm (amongst other bottom tier factions such as grey knights) simply can't kill the nids fast enough and gets overwhelmed by numbers. I managed to tie against my nid brother with T'au, but that was mostly due to ridiculous overwatch luck. Generally you'll notice something with high winrate factions in combat patrol and that's numerical advantages.

I'm new and I really like the design of the Skitari and Sicarians, and was thinking about getting the combat patrol to try w40k out. Man does it look miserable to play that army though.

I don't blame you, they are very cool and distinct visually. Just be aware that they are currently one of the most expensive armies and that they are very hard to pilot. Once you get into list-building they have some neat tricks and can absolutely demolish tanks or monsters.

It would be interesting how this game would change if you pick a different mission and add a squad of sicarions to the admechs side. Hopefully this would make it more balanced.

Try it by points. Do 500pts imo.

Not sure if the admech team sucks, I think the Tyranid one just has a counter play to pretty much everything, I'm getting tabled over and over as Space Marines!

It looks a bit like the tyranids hardcounter admech. Also the space marine patrol seems a bit weak. I did not play with mine yet but i think they have few answers to tougher units. Or larger units. I wonder what an additional infernus squad or an dreadknought instead of the librarien would do.

couldn't really tell but did you roll flamers to hit on overwatch? they are auto hit just roll for the amount of attacks and then to wound do enjoy your battle report, and the graphic report too, i was thinking to do something similar with my friends. definitely a sub from me 😊

Its closer to normal 40k but with preset army lists (ypu can buy one army in 1 box) and some special rules. But mostly inline with normal 40k

Can skitarii advance and shoot? Im no rules lawyer - just asking! Also hate to pick on you any way vic. Ive heard admech are struggling these days but sheesh! That combat patrol matchup is brutal! Love the vid as always tho

This match and deployment also didn’t help AdMech. This provides no real backline to speak of. They’re one of the few with no screen or melee unit in the Patrol

The only reason Admech aren't absolutely unplyable in 40K is that they made their points so low as to be outnumber their enemies 2 to 1. The Admech combat patrol not only has almost nothing in it (200pts less here) but also has the worst weapon options possible, and actually removes the army rule from the Kataphrons so they don't even get doctrinas. It is awful in every single way and feels deliberately designed to make new Admech players lose every practice game and abandon the army before ever getting close to a full size 2000pt game. I don't know why Games Workshop hates Admech so much. It's an abused, forgotten, loveless faction for the assholes in Nottingham, and they keep trying to make it worse.

Those Adeptus Mechanicus guy's need to stick to making weapons and tanks for real men....What a bunch of wierdo's they are. Glad the Tyranids won :P.

This game mode is like an afterthought. May be it has some sense as a tutorial for the big game. Why would someone play this over kill team when looking for a fast paced skirmish experience?

Great video, but combat patrol somehow have less units than kill team. Its have of an skirmish feel than other games at the same points levels. A fake game to sell boxes on a gimmick. Honestly not a fan. Plus some of those have less models than a kill team and that's absurd. I'm all in if you guys do proper 40k tho.

I literally never see a battle report in which the adeptus mechanicus win. This army is such total absolute trash in 10th edition. It makes me so fucking angry

Combat Patrol was a joke from the get go. Just one of the things that disappointed me about 10th.

GW seems to have put zero effort into Combat Patrol.

Damn I hoped for kill team. Now its warhammer, warcry, shaterpoint etc. Skip for me and looking for KT again
