yeah on monkeytype there are only a set of particular words repeated. Thats why type racer is recommended

@@bigdaddyaf You can set monkeytype to generate a larger set of English words as well in the settings, but it looks like the set in the video is the default set, and so it is quite a small set by comparison. I get about 120WPM on this set and only 70WPM in quotes.

@@nevmiku Yes. You can set the word base to be over 400k English words and anywhere in between, basically. Better than that, you can set it to be any major programming language. But while going for world records, you'd be insane to handicap yourself by using anything other than the 200 English words used by default.

You come to realise that there is a set of words, and i am actually faster at typing them than quotes.

I was stuck at like 100-110 for a long while, then slowly moved to 120s after a few years, then years later 130s, and I've been there for a while. Now the same test I just hit 157. I'm blown away at this improvement. That being said if there's a lot of punctuation or capitalization and stuff I am still slow af.

Hey there, you may want to activate that keyboard but it will hinder your ability to touch type if you are still in the learning stage. You may want to rely solely on 'feeling' and your fingers may want to 'know' where each letter is on the board. To verify if you have typed correctly, you may want to stick to the text output itself. But yea, best of luck to you.

How can I switch from 6 finger typing (5 fingers on my left hand and 1 finger on my right hand (currently get like 160-170 wpm with this method) to all 10 fingers so I can hopefully reach 200 wpm and become a lot more consistent

@@zzderp sure it might be more comfortable to work with colemak, and I personally know 4 different alternate layouts and am semi-proficient in all of them and none will give you any sort of advantage.

I wonder if the record can be broken with a more optimally designed keyboard layout.
