Hey! This is TUCaN! I remember this game. SPOILER: The most frustrating part was losing 3 Mangonels to "only" 4 Knights. I was very surprised by the knights, even though it was an obvious choice. After hitting imp and running out of Archers, I gave up on the game as there was no real hope for a comeback. At least I can sleep well now knowing I lost to someone coached by you :D gg wp anyway!

patrol / attack move your army, so you don't lose it randomly on the map when not watching

I think your big mistake was diving too deep into his base, you could have destroyed the ranges with the mangos instead of going for the TC right away

I'm not talking about the black one (Fog of War). Just go to Options > Graphics tab, under Render (right side) uncheck Enable Bloom, Animate Fog and Animate Fog Border. You'll easily see the difference.

You shouldn't put "fog" in caps, it looks like you're talking about the fog of war.

I gotta say Hera, these coaching videos are awesome, you learn a ton more when it comes to making decisions and mistakes that we typically make but don't realise. On this one it's simply the trickling reinforcements when you are playing archers, which is less of a problem with mobile knights, but having reinforcements picked off, or not having an army at home can really lose you games.

Thanks again Hera for the coaching! Been working on improving, going to dial in a little more these next few weeks in 1v1 ranked. Fog? What fog you guys talking about? Also, idk why my cursor didnt show up. But glad you guys couldn't see it. 11 so many misclicks especially first game. You'd be surprised how nerves can get ya. /s for the fog part.

Hera, you should make a coaching tool that reads the game in progress and plays your audio queues suggesting what to do next and how to react. You could also make it slightly comical like "But what's the TC doin?" when you idle it and "we're not taking those" when something bad happens. :)

nice game alt+f4, the snipe on the mangos with knights then later on sniping his mango with your xbows was a sick play.

I'll make sure to use these tips once I leave 800 elo 🤭

Each video you've been posting has vastly improved my game play Hera.

It's a small thing but one thing I love about this game is how every player has their own way of setting up their control groups in a way that feels comfortable to them. For me Ctrl group 1 is always my starting 6 vils, 2 is my scout, and then I'll add some sheep to groups as I find them while I'm scouting. After that, production buildings are usually 3/4/5, 1 and 2 change to my main army. When my friend told me that his scout goes on group 1 it just felt so wrong, and the guy getting coached has his blacksmith ctrl grouped which I don't think I've seen before - I just use the hotkey

I play on Xbox and I started dominating with Khmer online with 15-16min castle age and immediately sending 3-6 elephants with the speed upgrade and skipping barracks. The fastest elephants in the game with the team bonus. Extremely powerful for low elo.

Would it be better to scout the enemy first before deciding dropping the 3rd TC? I find myself sometimes get overrun by full castle aggression and should opt for producing more miltary and adding monk or seige.

Yeah basically going for eco you need to do every thing in your power to buy time, make walls send army to distract, just make them lose time, you will be stronger eventually

Depends completly how you're playing the game. Are you just having fun doing whatever or warching every replay and trying to improve next game? Also good to watch pro-players to get tips on build orders, tricks, and how to counter different different situations optimaly.

Im confused. Kudos to that guy for getting some coaching and playing to get better, but… there is no way he’s 1500 elo? Like… there is simply no way. Ladder is quite competitive these days. Youd be hard pressed to find an 1150 elo with idle TC time in dark age. No offense to this guy Im sure he’ll get better quickly but video title has to be a mistake, no??

I'm a low 12xx and me and my foes have consistently arround 1min idle TC time at 15'. I use CA to keep track of this and it's revealing how diferent is the autoperception to reality.

you don't win or loose games because of 45seconds idle time, 1100 or 1500 elo alike. This guy is definitely 1500. It's much easier to see the mistakes when you are spectating and not playing.

No, it's 1500. There are always mistakes. Some players have them in dark age, some with their production, others with transitions. It all balances out.

11 if he's making obvious mistakes to you, you should do even bigger mistakes man. Watch your replays, correct your mistakes and gain +400 ELO!

I like hera and these vids are educational but let's be real, this coaching is poor value. I've noticed in all these vids that the amount of corrections he makes are the bare minimum. Why let him do those mega walls? Why let him bank 500 wood in feudal and 800 wood in early castle age? Why watch and let him make wrong tc spots instead of saying no, delete and build on the outside of the woodline. Why not correct his stable decision since mangonels would be the much safer choice (double counter) and give offensive options? At 31.30 min gametime, even though the enemy had mangonels out doesnt tell him not to watch his eco for 30+ seconds while moving his ranged army through the middle of the map...Sorry but if you pay 150$ for this you are facking stupid. Well this was already obvious if you play with these gfx. Some people may not agree with very hands on coaching styles like F!re does, but this is too passive for the amount asked. Imagine how many sessions you would need to make a significant change 1111 Hera ballin though and I love how hes farming these players.

There are different teaching styles. Hera is letting the players play as they would, let them think and make mistakes, and then correct the bigger things, especially afterwards. He's making sure the broader brush strokes are good, rather than picking on a million smaller details. Besides, you typically coach to get a player over the next milestone, not to make them 2k+ in one session.

@@IAmBael Yeah I mentioned F!re as the other extreme, maybe he is a bit too hands on but I would prefer that way more because he pushes the players and it will give the session much more potential and replay value. The things I mention aren't small at all, they are huge game deciding mistakes which are just allowed to happen. I agree it's bad to mention every detail, but I'm not saying that. If those mistakes were corrected they could have actually focussed on playing a macro game, taking the map, relics, discussing ideal late-game comp etc.

@@fazeraoe9582 I haven't watched a full coaching session, but this sounds like it was maybe the 2nd game, so I think it's fair to assume Hera was letting the guy play as he would and make mental notes of what he does wrong and then be more hands on with those mistakes in the next game(s). I've seen him write down a list of things for the player to work on before. I would also prefer a bit more hands on but I'm not sure how indicative one video here or there is of the whole session. 🙂

He probably was flustered because of being on voice with Hera. Also sometimes you think your dark age is perfect, but it might not be. I know I watched some of my recs and was surprised by how bad it was 11

Imho, flawless dark age is overrated. I am too 1.2k and I had games where I lost a villager in Dark age, killed a boar, been lamed, you name it, and was still able to beat 1.2k players. And the opposite is true: I lost games where I was perfect in Dark Age and my opponent had the said troubles. A 1k player can do as perfect Dark age as a 2k player. Where we suck is in all other stages of the games.
