I used to be that guy. I prided intelligence over the ability to make friends and it got me bullied and I felt like crap. When I graduated I started working small sales retail and learned the value of being able to talk to people and make them like you quickly. Then I became the nice guy... and was not good at making moves because I respected women to much to want to risk hurting them if things did not work out. Then my sister then basically pushed my future wife into my lap and now we are engaged. Now other girls see me and my fiancee and say things like "she's so lucky," and "Aww that's so sweet," So I think I have graduated into the fantasy? I'm like 23 now... it was a five year transition to get from "annoying smart guy," to where I am now.

Pretty good but I feel you missed the insidious side of the NiceGuy. A niceguy isn't a kind person, his "kindness" is entirely dependant upon his own level of satisfaction. Meaning if he doesnt get what he feels entitled to his niceness mysteriously evaporates and he starts slinging slurs all around. They can grow out of this phase but some who enter it stay stuck that way for years. They make highly frustrating friends.

Not every single Nice guy is like that. Some are genuinely caring of other people around them regardless of what it "gets" them. If you feel this way because of experience then I am sorry but just know that some guys are actually kind, and not people attempting to get their own way.

Funny you should say that. I'm a "Nice guy" and I know what happens to the96 said, majority of them. I don't plan on being like that. Regardless of what it "gets" me like archery96 said I don't mind, I just enjoy helping people. Usual feeds to mess me up, yes, but I will continue to do it until I can not do it anymore. Well, it's just normal to expect some form of reciprocation sometimes and why ever not? There is such a thing as a "two way street". You make it sound as if it is their fault altogether. You just can't blame them that much for growing out of that phase, after countless exploitation and being taken for granted many times. As for me it felt satisfying at times to finally just walk out of the mess that other people make and say FUCK IT. Insidious? hmm I learned not to give a fuck.
