Glad to see he's healthy and doing well. Still miss him at InnerFidelity but wish him the best on his journeys.
Well that's as simplistic a build as I could do and darn near everything you would need . Bravo.
I second that Tyll was a Legendary Headphone reviewer and their has still been no replacement for him. I’m glad that he is happy and he can live his life out as he chooses. Very few people have the courage to do what Tyll has done and I wish him and others who do this the best.
Tyll, being an audiophile, I appreciate all the accomplishment you have achieved to help the community. Thank you!
That thing is total stealth, even the rear bumper (inbuilt tool box) looks totally legit as a work truck. Love it!
His heating and cooling system was what blew my mind and never thought about it. He is also a fellow Montana man like me ... He is a win in my book.

Like the turnbuckles/latches for the cabinets, smart and simple stealth props in cab, love the bright white interior too! TFSharing.
love his cheerful demeaner. Love his dog. I am pleased he has a ceiling catch for the cupboard. So many people do not have this feature which puzzles me.
You have wonderful ideas to create a very homey step van lifestyle. Thanks for sharing and many blessings❣️🌲🎁♥️

I love how smart these kinds of guys are! Very fun to watch and be inspired.
I love his design!! Pretty ingenious guy. Every design with a "garage" make sooo much sense. The thought and execution of his design...sooo cool.

I like idea of tool box that can double as a work bench or a cooking table or even fab a top to make a (patio) deck; and if mounted on a receiver hitch, you could even remove the whole thing for entry into national parks and area where overall length is a consideration.

But he does have to give up an EXIT door to have that garage. That is not cool to me. But at least he is an original.
Wow! Great conversion. Thanks Seven and Put for showing us around.

An exceptional build. I love the extra insulation and creativity. Love the large tool box on the back. A great idea that it looks like a work van for greater security. A great guy too. I love his beautiful personality. Good success to you, Tyll.
LOVED the way the lid lifted on the toilet. Clever. And the curve in the bedroom divider is very attractive. Cool! Thanks for sharing.

Great build! Really nice and well worked out step van.
You’re mirroring my future plans down to your pooch “ Dark” & electric bike, my plan is to sell my house, buy a UPS/step-van modify & stock it to my style & needs & live full time. My plan is to live in New Mexico/Arizona area, living in the 7000/9000’ level in summer & the desert in winter, all you need is a few roof fans. I’ve found that a minimalist life-style is better for me bc the more “stuff you have, you don’t own it, it owns you” in repair , time & money. Good build , good tour! Shalom!
Wow!! I love brilliant, but simple solutions and this guy seems to have mastered it. Love how light and bright the interior is as well.

Super clever and I love your electrical design.
Great ideas!! Tyll looks like a great guy to camp with!! Happy travels!!
Excellent cooling system. If I've heard right most step and don't come with air conditioning or Cruz control. This brings stepvans back onto my favorite vehicle list for van life. Yay!!
the heating and cooling system is ingenious, you need to patent that! great build!
I like your paracord/camlock setup in your cabinets. That alone made your vid worth watching. (The rest is good to). Build is relatively clean and simple, looks like you did everything pretty economically.
This guy had a great idea with the way he insulated his van. Using his fan to draw out the hot air in the walls is genius. I will do this with my bus. Thank you for the video and thank him for the idea.

Seven, Dude you really hit this out of the ballpark. Tyll did an awesome build. It doesn't appear that he lost any/much space with the roll up door in the rear. I'm going to follow his build...Again this was fantastic.

In my humble opinion there does not seem to be much that is extravagant or superfluous. Interested in exploring your thinking👍😁
Between you and Seven I am convinced: Itis going to be a step van conversion for me. And, Tyll, you have a fantastic personality. I am half in love with you on the strength of this vid alone. Great little home.

I like my plain 5 gallon bucket and wooden toilet seat and a one use 13 gallon trash bag.....poop ,pull out, tie and throw away. No wasted space but the size of the bucket stored away. Other wise nice job.
Thank you Tyll, and Thank You Seven. Lovin it !

Montana is a bit too cold for me in winters, but lovely in summers. quite the opposite in Florida. I lived in Tampa, Lakeland, Orlando, Del Rey and Ft Lauderdale. summers were brutal with the humidity but winters were quite nice!
Man, youtube and the internet are an amazing thing. A couple of hours ago I was doing some research on looking at getting some good quality headphones and found Tyll's review on some I'm interested in. I liked his laid back and intelligent demeanor and checked out some of his other vids. Then was shocked to discover he'd retired! Seem's like a pretty tough job to retire from so I totally understand! (I'm just being a smartass as I'm sure he had a day job too). Anyway, discovered Putts and his blog through this video. Sounds like he's had a varied and interesting life from serving to electrical engineering, audio engineering, CAD and goodness knows what else. Just skimmed the vlog so far so looking forward to an interesting read. He hasn't been on there in awhile so hope he's ok and is living the dream. Thanks for sharing
Excellent build, well done.
Hello,,I enjoyed looking your build,i can also used some of your ideas,i have a 16 ft van i sell fruits, boiled p nuts on the side of the road 4 days a week to make me a living,i use 6 ft for my bed and living quarters the other 10 ft is storage for the many differant fruits i sell on the roadside,i park in truck stops at night time, just like i did when i was a trucker many yrs ago,,now i am OLD 72,and retired, and live alone,i plan to install solar (3) 300 watt panels on top for my air con, thanks everyone,,good information here in youtube,

Brilliant! Even without the fan, the hot air would rise and draw cooler air in.
I like the insulation aspect of your build. Good job.
What a great build!
wow really well designed love the pop up counter top over the fridge, Great utilization of space in this build. Wow what a great design on the cooling system you came up with..wow. I wish I could do this in my Bus,,but I could never designate 4 inches in each wall....Plus I have all of my original damm windows still in place,,, I have to take care of that in the spring .

very impressive and so well thought out, nice.
Love the passenger seat that is so smart!
Nice parce l deliver van!I really like the cooling system. In my grumman ford step van I went with 5.5" thick rock wool (r-19?)for super insulation and sound deadening and it works great. I just need to insulate my front wall for really extreme temperatures, You are correct...insulating is the biggest project involved with step van. The only more difficult insulation project is a skoolie. Don't ask me how I know!
Wow! What a great setup!!

it is fascinating that we think we know what we want before building, then once we have it we realize somethings are simply not how we thought they would be or work like we plan... I think that is why so many van builders go thru 2 or 3 floor plan builds
amazing set up, cool step van.. thanks Seven wanders show us this video.

I'm pleased to see others doing the composting toilet. I should have mine built in the next month or so
I would love to hear more about the cooling system and if there has been any problem with condensation between the two walls of insulation. Great ideas in this one! Thanks!
I love this Step Van World !!!
Now this is my full dream. I really love this and yes I thank you for your video.
Very smart insulation idea! 👍
Some real thought and clever engineering gone into this conversion. Insulation and air management is a key concept. Getting this right effects every other aspect of living in the conversion. I used compressed wool boards for insulation and combined with a breathable membrane I think I have it right. Mine good for -20c to +30c living so perfect for UK climate.
@SevenWanderstheWorld
6 жыл бұрын
compressed wool boards are amazing. they are not very common here in the USA
@andrewwilson8317
6 жыл бұрын
Seven Wanders the World surprising they hard to come by. They are a product created out of desperation! The farmers were getting so little for fleeces they were loosing money shearing their sheep. There was no market for the fleeces until the insulation boards were created to create a market for them. A poor state of affairs for the farmers, cheap imported wool reduced their product to almost zero value. Natural wool has so many advantages- organic, fire resistant, breathable, long lasting, chemical free and supports hard working farmers.
Great step van. Interesting concept on cooling.
Yeah, I had a Grumman step van on a Chevy chassis but the box was only 10ft. I worked out of it and traveled and lived in it for years.
Great van tour, thank you! This was a great find! 7:06 - it would have been very helpful at this point to focus the camera on what was below the table rather than remain fixed on him. Ditto for other moments. Always let the camera roam to what he is talking about, not stay fixed on him. Then the video becomes more interesting. Tyll's sandwich walls and heat draw system are genius! Very clever Tyll! I wonder if it would help even more to make holes below the van and draw cool air from under the van (always shaded) into the walls and van interior? I saw an engineer do this (Dave Orton) with his tiny Ford Transit conversion. He made a plug on the floor of the interior living space that could be pulled up to create a hole to suck in air from under the van. He said, its always the coolest air since is it always the shaded area. Smart concept! With regard to heater, you may want to check out the cheap $200 Chinese diesel heaters that are similar to Espar, Webasto, and Truma. They come with their own flat small diesel tanks and are very efficient in low diesel use, have NO condensation, easy to refill at any gas station, and no danger of explosion like propane. Propane has condensation, explosion, and you need to find costly refill stations. What a great van build, so interesting. Please make a separate one to explain the insulation, and how it works in more detail. This deserves some exploring. Concept is easy to understand but easier to implement if we see details. Thanks again, well done!
Tyll has a great personality, he should youtube, very nice guy, and love the van, thanks for showing us his build...
