Tyler Joseph Apology Video

This screen recording was from the Fortnite twitch stream 8/12/20
hi guys! as you may know i used to own the instagram fan account @ joshiejoseph, i had around 4.5k followers until i left the account after about a year and a half due to personal reasons, the account is still active and i can still log in but i just don’t have the same enjoyment i originally had for it.
i thought i’d share this as many people who missed the stream may be searching for updates on the situation.

This is actually a good apology, he acknowledged that he was wrong and it was a mistake. He doesn't want to you or anybody to magically say that you love him. The part about the "excuses" he is not talking about the tweet, he is talking about he is not racist just to make it clear. Everyone makes mistakes and that tweet was wrong, but it doesn't make him racist (in my opinion) and is okay to admit that you're wrong, sometime we said something without thinking it will bad but it is. And admitting that you're wrong is something that a lot of people don't do when they think that they're not doing something wrong

@Micah Williamson look man I don't think that tyler did something wrong of that he is racist, I love his music it save my life, but I have to admit that when George Floyd died at least he should say nothing and don't make like it nothing happened and it's okay he's only human he makes mistakes. This apology more than necessary.

@Micah Williamson Especially with the riots that went on for most of 2020. Even if he agreed that the treatment of George Floyd was unjust, he may not want to support the burning down of small businesses, looting targets, shooting and beating people to death. BLM is a very clever name for the organization because anyone who disagrees with it sounds racist. I think he should have doubled down instead of apologies.

@Micah Williamson i absolutely agree with you, and i'm glad i found someone speaking some sense. Firstly, his tweet wasn't even offensive or inappropriate, it was a joke he made about people pressuring him to use his platform, so when you look at it, it's just a joke about a certain thing. Secondly, in no way was it racist nor somewhat offensive, he wanted to promote things he is passionate about (like crew nation), and it's his platform, he is allowed to share/promote whatever, i too agree that this apology was absolutely unnecessary as he did nothing wrong, and it was a total overreaction for people to go as far as harassing his wife to also use her platform, and for some weird fucking reason, going as far as doxing him, which is just absolute madness. Comparing what he tweeted, with what happened to him because of it, is actually annoying to think about. It's a tough time, i get it. But don't go around blaming others and harassing them, thinking it would make a difference somehow.

I respected him for that comment. I see how it can be offensive, but when you are a musician and not a politician and your audience is pressuring you to say something about a racial and political situation of course you are going to try to ignore it then maybe say something you didn’t mean, because when someone is pressuring you to do something you don’t want to do it’s common to act out in anger because it’s uncomfortable situation. This is really hard to explain but people should understand that no he didn’t do the right thing but it’s not necessarily his fault.

@@jasonlavallee8195 It was an incensitive joke, so he apologises. Simple. If I had to guess, his point was simply that he was tired of people demanding he does more with his platform. He just made a joke about it, something very similar to what I would probably have done. People took it in a bad way, because in the context, it was a tone deaf joke to make. I think people cancelling him etc are totally stupid, because he does and has publicly supported BLM and unity in general. His joke doesn't change his opinion on BLM, so people should really accept the apology and move on. But the apology itself, yes it was relevant in this situation.

@@invisiblespeedrc I agree that the joke doesn't reflect his views, and Cancel Culture is dangerous. I also think that supporting justice for black people doesn't mean you have to support BLM, or defunding the police. I think it's unfair to say that someone who doesn't agree with the riots and violence from BLM or their socialist agenda, supports police brutality or racism. Also, his joke totally landed!

awwwwwww lets fowgive our smol bean! he never would do anything wongggg. guys bffr this was a bad apology and his joke being abt not wanting to use his platform for BLM was him using his platform for it. just in a bad way. and it indirectly was him joking abt black lives. which is wrong and bad. no one should have to explain this. he didn't have to comment on BLM but as someone who "does so much for the black community. you wouldn't know how much" you'd think hed want to? too many manipulative excuses, not enough accountability. as a grown man who is even a father to a child, with a huge platform, who loves black ppl, he should've done better. and his apology should've been better.

Look I'm not saying you have to forgive him but he's been speaking about black issues longer than most white celebrities have. Look at his trees speech in 2016: kzread.info/dash/bejne/eY1rm8aledG6lKQ.html People were harassing him for not posting about BLM when he had done it on Instagram. They wanted him to do it on Twitter instead. Activism is activism, it doesn't matter which social media he uses. His wife and him posted links to donate to BLM in the wake of George Floyd's murder. A lot of people just see the tweet but not what happened *before* it.
