    I am gonna be real with you… A lot of her American success is due to the “Urban” radio stations which are ones geared towards Black Americans. When her songs play in the U.S it’s on the Hip hop and r&b channels and playlists She takes a lot of inspiration from Black American artists which she has admitted to herself and it’s listed in her Apple Music bio that she’s heavily inspired by Aaliyah and Brandy. The sneak dissing towards black Americans from others about this is so unwarranted when they are the main ones uplifting her music in the U.S. and she takes a lot of inspiration from their music culture. The space that she takes up in the U.S will always be Black cultural spaces and that’s just a fact as to how the U.S views what is and isn’t Black culture and her aesthetic and branding is one that is always going to be viewed as Black to other Americans. But then some Africans will try to blame any backlash she gets on Black Americans “being jealous” or Xyz Like some of us have been rocking with her since her first releases and she’s easily marketable to our culture but we keep getting blamed anytime she falls short of unanimous approval yet it’s not us doing that solely. In fact I’ve literally seen plenty of Nigerians and other Africans turn their back on her after she won the Grammy over other African artists

  • @nneynaeneyi

    @nneynaeneyi

    3 ай бұрын

    Well then in that case , why is it mostly black Americans making fun of her and her ticket sales ? I see your point but if that’s true then maybe we should give her more grace then we are choosing to . I’ve seen Nigerians do that too but they are fools , us Nigerians do not claim those people lmao , my step mother and little sis are South African so yeah . I’m not one of them but I see what your saying . I respect your opinion , but I must say the whole “American aesthetic “ a lot of Africans have been on that wave . That’s old news , at this point Africans are very modern naturally . Especially South Africans being that they were taken over by Europeans back then . Also let’s be honest tyla was pushed towards Americans to be a representation of afrobeats because she mixed race , when we had tons of talented African artists who are already here .

    @@nneynaeneyi l it’s not the “American Aesthetic” but the “Black/African-American aesthetic” And her style is very reminiscent of late 90s early 00s African-American pop culture look +Rhianna And that wasn’t a diss to say that Africans aren’t modern but to point out the fact that AA pop culture and aesthetics often differ from the vast amount of African pop culture. We may share some elements like hair styles and gold jewelry but our pop culture is quite different Take Ayra Starr for example who follows Alt Nigerian aesthetic which is a different look from American alt culture

    @@nneynaeneyiI also think that here in Africa, very little emphasis is placed on who Is doing or wearing what from which culture...it's just done...everybody listens to everyone's music...everyone wears whatever they want from whatever culture or race ..we even mix and match...so it's totally foreign to us as Africans where things are policed...music...style of dress..it's alien to us that people own these things..how do they own them when those things are worn by everybody ..no matter what culture or race..in Africa...Here in south Africa you will even find a Zulu person in full Indian regalia...as an outfit ..and we all praise

  • @kennyb1588

    @@marcelhaines7712 that’s because the u.s has a very bad habit of taking elements from minority cultures popularizing them On the majority population and then erasing the minorities existences from it or renaming the element The culture of gatekeepimb didn’t always exist it has to do with the fact that historically white ppl were always allowed into minority spaces but minorities weren’t allowed in theirs. And this wouldn’t have been an issue until white ppl started taking what they saw (ex. Jazz, clothing styles, dance etc.) and exporting it as “American culture” but erasing the Black and other minority groups from that culture they were profiting on

    For certain those Big Shots at her Recording label is pushing her nonstop..Their about the🤑💸only. This young woman must take care of herself. If she doesn't no one else will in that field. She's probably surrounded by buzzards out to make every penny they can off her. Because she does a lot of dancing her injury could be anything from back injury, hip injury etc. Whatever it is she needs time to recover to avoid accessible usage of pain medication on tours. Let's just pray that God will keep her safe.

    Thank you for being accurate about her race. Colourds are brown ppl in South Africa they were called brown ppl before apartheid began. Also i do believe her label is rushing her success in the us and Europe with the tour bcs yes she built her brand first in africa but not many ppl in the us listen to her other catalogs. I believe they have to work on more televised performances, festivals and promoting the album then release maybe a deluxe version of her album and finally go on tour. To africans her success has been long overdo, but to Americans, it feels like it's too early.

    I bought tickets for her tour and when I looked at the dates for it, I literally told my friends I wouldn’t be surprised if it got cancelled I had gotten the San Francisco date and the one before that was 2 days apart and in Canada. Like the next was another time zone away and again maybe 2 days apart. On top of that they kept adding in festival dates I literally looked at the calendar they had lined up for her and said poor girl is gonna be exhausted half the time. It didn’t seem like the schedule they gave her allowed for any downtime or even just time to get acclimated to where they were going to be before they were flying somewhere else.

    Let’s be honest; Tyla was America’s attempt to take what Nigeria has done with Afrobeats/Afropop and make it more “mainstream” by putting someone racially ambiguous in our face as the representation of Afropop around the world. Tems, Ayra Starr, and TEMS all have worldwide success by not being pushed as this overly sexual image unlike what we see with Tyla. Once the appeal of overly sexualizing Tyla has worn off, will people still listen to her music????

Just to add more her mother was a talent Scout and his father was a manager of something I don't remember but her were already working in the music industry. I don't think she's an industry but the way she makes it seem she came from a place where her parents didn't have any contact in the music industry .
