Gary was one of a kind. I’ve never read his books but have tied many of his patterns. I fish mostly in the Pacific Northwest these days and many of his patterns are still very effective, so thanks for this.

Wonderful tie. I love these older and obscure patterns which inevitably get lost to history. Love the addition of the bronze mallard horns too. I bet it would really hunt on a down and across skate What a fishy pattern. Thanks Davie.

Thanks mate for tying this caddis fly. It’s one you have to have in your box for sure. You’re still the best.. Best Regards, Ken.🎣🐜

That is a jewel. Thanks for sharing this. Gary Lafontaine was probably the one that studied caddis the most. A true genius.

Very interesting fly Davie. To me it looks more like a beetle but either way I'm sure it'll coax a bite from the fish! I think the CDC is a very nice addition!

What kind of scissors do you like to use? and how do you maintain them? I have loads of experience sharpening knives, but the first couple pairs of scissors I tried to sharpen ended up being sharp enough to shave with, but couldnt cut thread when used as scissors =/

Hi @HalfInsaneOutdoorguy, I like a 4 inch razor scissor and as you may know many companies sell them. The ones I'm using at the moment are the Tiemco Super Sharp but be careful with them as they are made from tungsten and don't like getting dropped on a laminate floor as it's very easy to break the points as I have done this..I have attached links to the scissors and the scissor sharpener and stones that I use below as well.. 🎉Hi Davie, another great informative video. You mentioned that you had just sharpened your scissors. What do you use to sharpen them as I have quite a few pairs that have lost their edge. Is it possible that you may be able to do wee video

Hi @user-yq5xr9xl6q, I have attached the sharpener and the stones that I bought to sharpen my scissors though I have to be honest I've only used the stones so far. All I do to put an edge on my scissors is to lightly run the angled edge along the finest stones and then run the sharpened edge along an old leather belt and as you can see they cut well..This would probably upset a few pro scissor sharpeners but the scissors I'm using at the moment were lying in my graveyard of old scissors and they now cut for me...
