    Beautiful demo Davie. The best flytyer in Britain, possibly the world. Certainly the most charismatic, and I'm not even on the whiskey yet. Ok but only one-ish.

    Nice little variation on the Holographic Grey Boy there Davie. My love is for North Country Spiders but all these buzzer patterns sure have their allure. Thank you for another one dude.

    Traditionally was this made with goose and turkey biots instead of flexy floss? Part of me just is fascinated with that art of making flies with nothing but natural materials! its crazy how people could look at a feather and say "that looks like a wing bud of a pupating water worm looking bug!" hah!

    Lovely. I think Tc Northants is quite right. Tie a matching pair on earring posts instead of hooks & you would have a nice pair of earrings. It was quite interesting how you created the wing buds & then used both UV resin & nail polish to build the body coating. I looked at the thumbnail of this video several times before I had time to watch the video. I was really wondering how you did both. The wing buds really accent the fly, & the way you made them was clever. I’m new to using resin. Back in the 1990s, I would have used many coats of nail polish or epoxy (& had to accept its later yellowing). From the way you used the resin & then described adding further coats of polish, am I correct that there is no chemical reaction or other issue with using one on top of the other? Thank you.

    @@DavieMcPhail Davie, At what step in the tying would you add the breathers? Also, I assume you have to be careful not to allow the resin to get into them as they would get hard and lose their flexibility. Cheers,

    Nice work Davie. Does the bug bond have a life span? My original version I bought about 5 months ago seems to be getting quite thick. I bought a bottle of the lite version last week so hopefully it keeps longer. Thanks for the tips.🎣

    Hi Clark, Resins do get slightly thicker over time though I find the light version does last far longer as I've used this bottle of resin for well over a year and it's still ok as you may see in the video..I'm glad you liked the tips in the video... All the very best Davie

    Davie, If you were going to add a breather to this fly, would you tie it in after the wing buds have been tied in? Or, in a different sequence? Thank you.

  • @DavieMcPhail

    @DavieMcPhail

    Hi Shannon, I've tyed them in at the beginning and then tyed the buzzer but you have to watch that you don't get any resin or varnish soaking into them, I have also tyed them last as well in the bow-tie style.. All the very best Davie

    Hi David, how do you fish with this fly?

  • @DavieMcPhail

    @DavieMcPhail

    3 жыл бұрын

    Hi fabian nacuchi, Midge pupa hang in the water mostly but they will wriggle and swim slowly up to the surface, a natural gas that builds up near the head of the midge pupa helps it do this..I personally like fishing them from the shore of a loch casting against the wind allowing the flies to drift towards me and giving them the odd twitch by flicking the rod tip to give fish the impression of the midge swimming up towards the surface.. All the very best Davie
