Some Atlantic Salmon Flies find their way west. Since blue is the color best seen by fish in murky water it has found a place out here. What a pretty fly!

@@flytyingwithrichlamonte absolutely. I also carry that fly, however tied with hair. I really want to try tying this as you do. I tie classic trout flies with feathers, but the wings are so hard to get right. I will try your method.

I’ve only tied one classic salmon fly with Ron Alcott; it was the Jock Scott. I like to watch classic pattern tiers since you can pick up some tips and tricks here and there which help you on your trout fly tying. Nice job! I wish the background noise was eliminated, it sounds like you’re under the wing of a jet plane.😊

Sorry for the backround noise. Tbose are my oxygen concentrators. I was struggling with a terrible lung disease. I just had a lung.transplant a couple months ago so its nice and.silent in my videos now.

Thats why I use the underwing. I went through a couple pair of mallard before setting the small underwing. Ever since its much easier.

  • @vesas5214

The underwing helps a lot. You can also try moistening the mallard a bit before tying it in. One more thing is to have right sized feathers - mallard is stiffer at the brown part so you should always tie it as close to the stem as possible. That's where it's the softest and stays better in one piece.
