Love that 71’ bay!! That’s exactly what I’m looking for as a daily. I don’t want a garage queen or show piece. I want to be able to enjoy it. That lemon drop 72’ is pretty cool too. Can’t wait to see the work being done on them. Thank you for saving them both lads. Why would anybody want to scrap such beauties is beyond me. Peace love and VW life.

I like old VWs (air cooled). I was with VW for 15 yrs a VW guild craftsman. I’ve owned (in order of ownership) 1959 convertible, 2 1960 convertibles, 1964 bug , 1968 fastback (new), 1970 fastback(new), 1968 westfalia camper, Fiberglass buggy with Dual carb sqbk engine, 1973 thing my everyday car for 12 years , 1969 Karman Ghia. 1973 super convertible . Keep up the good work 👍🎩

Since you guys are working on a bay window bus, can you make a video on how to replace the gauges and a video on how to repair floor rust? That’s my struggle. If you could, that would make my day

I was born in 1967 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. When I was a kid my dad bought a 1971 VW Bus(green bottom/white top) and it was less than a year old. We traveled in that Bus completely around the USA visiting all the national parks as well as Disney Land. We also at a different time traveled in it to Disney World in Florida and did a lot of camping in it. It met it's demise when my mother hit a train bridge pillar head on at the passenger side front where I was sitting. I saw it coming and barely made it into the rear as we struck the pillar. I got a cut on my forehead that required stitches. The Bus still ran and drove but it was totaled. Someone bought it for close to what my dad paid for it and was supposedly going to replace the entire front clip. I always wondered what ever happened to that Bus. By the way, I am still a VW Nut.

Newly discovered your channel and been really enjoying the content and catching up with what you guys are doing. So cool that you are saving so many Bugs and Buses and that your community of VW-Lifers is so active, fun loving and supportive. Running a pretty stock 1970 Beetle (called Buddy) over here in the North of England. He's currently needing a new accelerator (throttle) cable, then I can get him out non dry days - to avoid the lovely salt and ****** they put on the roads here in the winter. Keep up the good work, and Gary - totally love Old Spot, what a great looking ''patina'' car, with just the right amount of new chrome and touches to make a blend that looks stunning. Love the seats in it too.

I was so excited to bring my bus down to Austin with me and meet you guys, and when I was 95% of the way done I lit it and me on fire and spent two weeks in the burn unit receiving skin grafts on my arm 😭 bus isn’t totally destroyed but ruined a lot of the work I did and don’t have the money to redo it all. So it’s just sitting again. Still look forward to meeting you guys one day.

I never get sick of a Volkswagen rescue! Way to go guys! VW life!

Nice finds! Just some helpful ideas. Get yourselves a battery operated impact gun. Also spray the insides and bottom of the cars with bug spray after you get them home….oh and away from the garage! The bugs will start coming out and head directly to the garage or house!

YEEEEEEHAAAAA! What an interesting and cool rescue action again. And the hell of a lot to work on, i guess - unless as far as the interior is concernded. But as we all know you: You will make it. But here's a little german lesson again from good old Mr. Knowitall: A KRANKENWAGEN is indeed an ambulance. Especially in the 50s, 60s and 70s, they used VW T1 and T2 Busses as ambulances and as police busses as well in Germany. KRANK is the german word for sick, ill. And WAGEN is the main expression for a car or a small bus or whatever - just like wagon. KRANKENHAUS means hospital - HAUS means house. And to go right into details: The initals on the sign tell where the vehicle is or was permitted in Germany - for example K for Cologne (Köln), B for Berlin, M for Munich (München) and HH for Hamburg (Hansestadt Hamburg). The first historical pic showed an ambulance permitted in Herford (HF) obviously, a city in eastern westfalia - and the place, my girlfriend was born. The world is such a small place! Thanks for this fantastic men-at-work-video again. And i like the texanian sunshine...😊

Can you do another one and teach how to turn it into a Baja bug? I love my 71 Super and it's been lowered, but my next I want it to be a Baja.

I'm sure someone has already explained/posted...but I didn't want to read the previous 350 comments :) "Krank" is the German word for "sick." "Krankenschwester" which literally translates to "sick sister" in English means "nurse." Soooo "Kranken-wagen."

The orange super looked like it was worth saving.
