Two Trossachs Aires

#camping #campervans #ebikes
A visit to the Loch Lomond & Trossachs National Park to check out a couple of low cost overnight parking places.
I'm based in the Scottish Highlands and I use a VW campervan to access the great outdoors, where I climb hills, ride my e-bike or gravel bike and just visit some of those places I've never been to. I've been climbing hills and mountains all over the world for 50 years and I'm a former editor of Climber Magazine and The Great Outdoors Magazine.

Thanks for another informative video Cameron. Both lovely places. Agree with you about the EHU pricing. We’re just back from two weeks in France, most expensive campsite was 17 euros, average Aire price was 11 euros, all with EHU and full services, some even completely free. We’ve some way to go yet in Scotland. We stayed at a club site on the way back up and it was £35 for one night. Most of the new aires being created in Scotland are getting priced at around about £15 without EHU which like you, I think is ok. I do think some competition and having camping car parks org managing some in Scotland would help establish a more reasonable “standard” and pricing though. If you haven’t tried them, thoroughly recommend them if you are even on the continent. Superb service, pricing and facilities. We stayed at a lovely ex municipal campsite with hedges all around each pitch, EHU & services for 11 euro. Can’t see that ever happening in Scotland.

Hi Cameron … love the video and totally agree with it you Stronachlachar is a stunning location … but think it only fair to warn people that they have to drive down the B829 which sadly at the moment is by far the worst road in Scotland …its a car wrecker !!!! and will only get worse through the summer months Cheers

Well done Cameron. Your videos keep getting better. Love the new drone shots, very professional. You've inspired us to go to these places. Enjoy your forthcoming trip to Dumfies and Galloway. One of our go to places. All the best Lynda and Steve.

Hi Cameron, good to see you out and about in the campervan again, the Trossachs is a favourite area of the wife and me. We parked in the Brig o,' turk car park often, then walked up the hill, we've never cycled all the way from Stronachlacher but did it halfway from the bottom up or the top down. Great wee video.

Thanks Cameron, always great to watch your videos and take advice from a wise scotsman. Good to see your operation has not harmed your enthusiasm for exploring that beautiful part of the world. Great shots i presume using the X1 ?. Best wishes to you. AL

Great videos, we did both spots last weekend! Glad we did before you make them busier! Thanks for highlighting the trossachs, they get overlooked too much in my opinion.

Thanks Cameron and looking forward to the Dumfries video. We are down here as wardens on a lovely site near Auldgirth. It is good to have a night away in the van especially around the Galloway forest area

Thank you all the videos. So much help and advice and lovely music and filming. We just back from a weekend in Dumfries and Galloway, one of our favourite areas to visit. We called in for a quick brdwatch at the wood of cree on the Saturday and hubby spotted what looked like your van parked up near to the woods. He noticed it because it's his next van! 😁 looking forward to the next episode about one of our favourite haunts. Thank you 👍

We were leaving the Rspb site at the wood of Cree just outside Creetown when we saw the van, so perhaps not yours 🙂We went to Caerlaverock Aire a few weeks ago but unfortunately there was no room. It looks fantastic. However I am looking forward to the reviews 👍🙂

Cant beat a wee trip to Stronachlachar! That cafe is pretty good and has lovely views of the Loch. £10 for a spot without electric is pretty good. Need to get up to Brig O Turk once I get my van through its mot 💪

This is not a part of the world I know well but after your boat trip up Loch Katrine it inspired us to take a day trip to the area and take a dog walk and I will certainly be back soon with my eMTB now that I have my bike carrier set up and working on my newly acquired car with tow bar. The only issue with this latest offering from you was that it wasn't long enough. Thanks again.

Yes it would be allowed but the issue would be negotiating the 12-mile single track and badly eroded rtad from Aberfoyle.

Thank you Cameron for your video. I just got back to East Yorkshire from 10 days travelling in beautiful Scotland and planning my next trip, I can’t wait. Just one question if you know, do disabled(blue badge) have to pay in the overnight park ups, I have found Scotland to be very good towards disabled people and no charge is asked unlike Britain where a lot of places you are still charged even for day parking.

Hi Cameron, can you please tell us what the camper/holiday maker tax doing to the camper/ motorhome/ caravan holidays. Is it deterring people? How is it meant to stop people from "wild" camping and littering places of outstanding national beauty?

I'm not sure Robin. I don't know anywhere in Scotland where the tourist tax is in force. I know there's been a lot of talk about it but I've never personally come across it and I'm not at all suie how it will affect campervanners.
