It's called giving a shit about your craft. Start with a solid story, develop characters to tell the story, optionally add great visuals and music. Much of the garbage today is because they have no idea of what makes a good story, then they completely ignore character development, then add way too much visuals to try and make it interesting or at least exciting, then swamp it with rehashed music. That's why Nolan makes great movies and Abrams makes shit.

Yes, Arcan (the brother in white with the mask and mechanical arm) did not want to kill his brother, it was an accident and he hated Valkorian (the old man, their father) for his and his brother's mistreatment, but he was far too powerful to defeat. When the player character comes along and is captured by Valkorian's empire, you are offered a choice by Arcan. Kill Valkorian (the emperor), or submit to his will (the only choice Valkorian gives you). This choice doesn't really matter though, because Valkorian "dies" anyway, which is unfortunate but that's just how nearly all video game stories are. It's far too much work to have truly meaningful choices, but I hope more developers try to do so. I'd say more, but I don't feel I should spoil the story. It's a very good story when you actually play the game, which I highly recommend at *least* for a single playthrough. I do recommend playing every class for each side. There's technically 16 classes, but really there's only 8 because both sides are mirrored combat styles and each class is just a different version of four base classes. You have Agent and Smuggler with their two combat styles each, which are nearly identical to their opposite faction counterparts. Sniper (Agent) and Gunslinger (Smuggler) are the same combat style, as are Operative (Agent) and Scoundrel (Smuggler) the same combat style. This continues for Inquisitor/Consular, Trooper/Bounty Hunter and Knight/Warrior, each having their two combat styles that are mirrored for each faction. Basically you only have to play 8 class storylines to experience every class story, because it doesn't matter if you pick Operative, or sniper. It only matters that you play Agent and Smuggler for example, but not which combat style if you want to experience every class story. They convoluted this fact by making every new character you create choose an "advanced class" (Sniper/Operative instead of Agent for example), so it isn't clear that this is the case until you learn as much, commonly by playing both advanced classes for the same faction. You would immediately figure out they have the same story on the first quest. This is a *LOT* of content for a single payment of 15$ We're talking a year of content if you play casually, quite easily. I completed all 16 classes over a period of like 6 years on and off.

Imagine in co-op if you could choose which direction of the force your characters could use. If you both go Light, it's a win for their order, if you both go dark, you both destroy the enemies of the sith, if you both go grey, you get a neutral ending, but if you both choose differently you have to fight each other.

This is the Star Wars we need. No sugar coating, very deep messages from both sides of the force. and a greater than you sense of story, like there are multiple pieces to a puzzle and it shows the pieces and there struggles. For example the Jedi jungle fight with the female Jedi at the end they shoot the flares and you see all the battles won from the flares showcasing how much great battles go on and it’s not won with one fight.
