Two old juggles in a brand new year

Ойын-сауық

Hey everybody! Do you have any juggling tricks that you work on for AGES but never quite master? Ok, I know you don't, Mr. Dietz, Mr. Peden and Mr. Gatto..but the rest of you..? how 'bout it? These are my two pet projects, and have been since the Dead Sea first got sick.
I want to master these juggles to the point of performability!
I WILL SUCCEED! I'll get them both perfect! And I'll fly to Paris on a magic carpet with Scarlett Johansson.
Kidding. I'll never master the freakin' backcrosses.
Comments and heckles welcome!

Awesome editing, I love how you use the rings on the floor for the videos. And it's really interesting to hear about how you struggle with the tricks.

I know how you feel John. Well, not exactly since I don't do your tricks (yet, ;D), but I struggled with 5 balls for what seemed like a reeeaaalllly long time. Now, I feel my pattern is good enough to be considered solid, and with practice I believe just about anything can be achieved. Good luck with your juggling John!

brilliant video! great editing, and I enjoyed the commentary. I can barely do 3club backcrosses, and I can't juggle 5clubs or 7balls, so i'm totally jealous.

Your 7 ball cascade is getting narrower, that's good. It looks like a 966 is within a few arms' reach.

Crazy Cat Juggler strikes again!!! Seriously, though, I thought your back crosses looked great. I liked the unicycle-cam, too! :-)

Excellent video, I'll agree with that philosophy. In my experience, being able to keep a pattern going for a reasonable amount of time is only about a third of the fight. That being said, the real reason for this comment was simply to thank you for proving to me that I'm not the only one who sees backcrosses as kryptonite.

I have been battling 7 for years. I wish it was consistent. Sometimes it's awesome and sometimes it's totally out of control. My record is about 70 catches. I'm going to work on getting stronger and overall more in shape. I think that is going to help me a lot. Cool video.

i like the editing a lot ^^ my be i can give 5 club backxx advices in a couple of years :) with balls increasing the number seems to help for lower ones, but i'm not sure yet

i know what you mean, 3club backcrosses have been a real challenge for me. When i see people like Vova or other great jugglers, they make it look WAY too easy.

Thanks! well, the numbers of objects aren't the only thing..it's the consistency of any new trick. If you learned 3 club backcrosses you know the process can be longer than we all want it to be. I watch Vova and go "wow, could he EVER have had trouble learning anything?" Thanks for looking at my vids.

Oh but he used to when he was learning 7, that's right.

Did you say Thomas Dietz doesn't do 9? as in balls? I have a video of him running my gBallz, nine of them, for like 50 catches. at BJC.

But John's pattern has always been too wide to pull off anything.

That seems like a paradox. If learning something new means you drop every once in a while (read: constantly), but you only practice patterns in which you don't drop, how do you learn anything new?

Ok let's see, I just watched this with sound now. Uh, I don't do 9, and I haven't been doing 9 since August or so. Well I don't do 7 balls well, and of course not very close to Thomas or Vova or Anthony, but at least I can pull off a couple tricks. But let me see a video of yourself trying 966, 7 ball 5 up and of course 9 balls.

You get good enough to do new tricks without practicing them. You'd be better at the new tricks if you åracticed them, but you would also have more drops.

  • @Yomay
    @Yomay16 жыл бұрын

He CAN DO nine, that doesn't mean he DOES nine. He practices only things he has solid because drops don't make for very economical use of the practice time.
