SZClash Raids that’s was probably their biggest problem, being scared of dropping big players and overload the pitch with players who were too similar and did not compliment each other, they just wanted the biggest names on the pitch

I love how Gerrard is taking his time with Rangers. The Liverpool job will always be there for him. Lampard's appointment on the other hand seemed a bit rushed. He clearly was chosen above more experienced managers because of his legendary status as a player and not a manager.

It can still work but whole team needs to have high work rate and strikers need to apply pressure on the other team's center backs so they can win the ball from risky passing attempts.

This formation works a treat on FM20(A treat being 8th with A.Villa first season), invert the fullbacks, great formation to use as well given the insane amount of number 10s in the modern game.

You know what's weird? I legitimately wrote Gerrard off as a failure before he had even managed his first game due to his lacking experience. Since then he's surprised with a passionate, methodical approach to his games and has experienced, if not trophies, relative upturn in the fortunes of Rangers FC. Guess that's why he's coaching football teams and I'm making stupid judgement calls on the internet.

Gerrard has been one of our best managers in a long while but he quit while he was ahead and had he remained at Rangers, you might have been proven partially correct. No one, besides Rangers fans, talk about Rangers' performances at the beginning of this season. The team were sloppy, conceding silly goals and fighting for 1 point against teams on the lower half of the table. This culminated in a humiliating 3-1 loss to Hiberian just days after Gerrard left. His prized defender Connor Goldson finally admitted that the hunger was gone, which is a colossal failure in management. I believe he had quit while he was ahead. Gerrard has proven he is quite clearly capable of success, but I hope he is capable of success long term like Sir Alex Ferguson.

Gerrard is smashing it this season, Rangers are runaway leaders this season and will win with months to go without a single defeat and with only a single digit number of conceded goals, record breaking stuff, the next step is to go for a it in Europe.

The Main problem for Rangers is the ever y time the opponent got the ball. That why I think it their centre back(due to injured and problem Gerrard got with them) and goalkeeper(mostly McGregor Gers #1 leaving the box too early) and that why in the future I would like to see Transfer video on Rangers in the future the team need to look for better centre back, goalkeeper(due to McGregor retirement end of 20/21 season) and a right winger like Seattle Sounders Jordan Morris a big help in assists and can be help in bring in goals

Love your video as always. Is there any chance you could make a video on Scotlands' international history and their struggles to qualify for tournaments.

I think the use of narrow wingers is a direct implementation of Rodgers' Liverpool the season after we narrowly lost the league. We played a 3-4-2-1 with 2 inverted wingers that caused a numerical advantage in the middle of the pitch (a box). I think Stevie implemented that system into his Rangers squad.

This formation would have accommodated Gerrard and Lampard in the England team during their peak. I wonder if this was an idea Gerrard generated from reflecting on that era. Gerrard became a natural 10 with Torres, and Lampard with the movement and third man runs. It’s also interesting to consider that Liverpool could have used this approach against Atletico. Liverpool have shown a similar struggle to break down low blocks. I think their overwhelming quality against premier league opposition held at bay the necessity to innovate until it was too late. Hopefully the lack of quality available to Gerrard doesn’t have the same obverse outcome in hindering innovation. In Liverpool’s case, the players’ quality was hiding the flaws in the system. In gerrards case, the players’ lack of quality or familiarity may be hiding benefits of the system.

Laurence Jefford sorry. Didn’t see this until now. I would be more convinced by your ‘bad day at the office’ argument if it were just one day, but it was four days against Napoli this season and last, and one and a half days against atletico this season. Two teams playing the same way on six separate occasions across two seasons. Too many common factors among Liverpool’s worst performances of the last two seasons for it to be players not stepping up. The system doesn’t work against teams with high quality players and coaching sitting deep. I think the perception that Liverpool didn’t put away their chances comes from an inflated sense of Liverpool’s chance conversion capability from the premier league. Liverpool have the biggest positive gap between goals scored and xg in the premier league. This implies a certain amount of luck, but you don’t see luck, you just see goals. I think Liverpool’s chance conversion against atletico and Napoli represents big regressions to the mean. Bigger challenges are more likely to wipe away the illusion of luck, as you get less luck and it is less telling against higher quality opposition. It works in the premier league because teams that sit deep don’t have the squads and coaches that Napoli had and atletico have. If Liverpool want to win the champions league again soon they’ll have to hope they avoid these types of teams or develop a solution.

Liverpool being George foreman isn’t a bad thing. Heavyweight champion of the world. One of the best of all time. Then he met Ali and his rope-a-dope.

AZ under Co Adriaanse is also a perfect example of the Christmas Tree tactic. He was a master at it as he implemented it at other clubs before. Even before Ancelotti with Milan.

I've thought for a long time now that that's how England's "golden generation" should have played. Gerard and Lampard as tens. Scholes, Carrick and Beckham as a 3 man midfield. There was never a second striker or a left winger up to the standard of the rest of that team, so why force them in?

@array s his best season stats wise in terms of goals assists but that wasn't his best season that was a couple years earlier. Gerrard is best in cm cause he could impact the team more there not just goals an assists but dictating the play and defending. He also thrived in that 10 role because at the the time Liverpool had a great team which was the only time you could say between 07 and 09 where his team was world class. Every other time the teams he played in were average even 13/14 great attack and good midfield but poor defence.

There was no real explanation. A combination of bad luck initially followed by a dip in confidence. Most players in the team hadn't won a title and struggled when things went against them and cost them points. This season is different, it's the first where celtic had a bit of pressure, and look what happened. Our "collapse" last year looks relatively tame in comparison to the disaster zone which is celtic this season. From arrogance about coasting to a title to wanting rid of every player in the squad bar 1 or 2 in the space of 6 months.

This is pretty cool. You think you guys could do a video on why the 2-3-5 formation which was common decades ago is not often used today?

Almost every liverpool team he played in was weak and he carried us every year.

The formation changes game to game. Against braga it was a 4-5-1 with both wingers ryan kent and ianis hagi supporting the fullbacks due to the overloads that braga had. But against teams like st johnstone who we dropped points to the formation was more of a 4-1-4-1 with one sitting midfielder and the other 2 midfielders pressed higher up the park and the wide men getting to the touchline and driving at the full backs. Its not as simple as saying its always a 4-3-3, gerard and the players may set out in a 4-3-3 but the shape is fluid and can change in an instant.

Jurgen kloop is doing a great job as Liverpool manager. But still it be a dream come true to see Steven Gerrard as Liverpool manager.

This is funny because in Fifa career mode i usually play two 10s but then when I'm having a bad run and I'm losing points i totally switch to 4-2-3-1 which is a solid formation to play football as far as I'm concerned, when i regain form i turn back to two 10s. Seems to struggle against smaller teams since they don’t mind giving up control in the middle and stay compact whereas better teams will come out and be more open.

Usually when wingers tuck in the go in between vertical lines(cb and fb) but here they go in between the horizontal lines(cbs and midfield)

The difference is that no.10 stays narrow for most part only go wide if forced or needed to, while the wingers tucked in because of tactical needs or when forced to but naturally stay wide for most part of the game..

Wait, what is the big deal with this formation? this is the good old tree formation (4-3-2-1). Ancelotti's Milan used to play like this often when they didn't have two healthy strikers (which was often), with Seedorf and Kaka as the two 10s and Pirlo, Gatusso and Ambrossini behind them. Don't get me wrong, I love all of Tifo's content, but they making it sound like Gerrard just came up with something new and shiny, and this is the oldest trick in the book.

Although this formation is probably inspired by Carlo Ancelloti, Gerarrd’s formation is processed differently.

Too many players wait for the ball and don't move for it. Also we're asking teams to do one thing, defend, actively asking them to do one task. Overloading areas where it's that tight it's ineffective. Also we don't close down high enough or in packs to get the ball back asap. This was huge for us.

The Day when Gerrard wins the Premier League as a Manager of Liverpool will be the second best day of my life. The First will be when he's appointed Manager of Liverpool .😍

Can you do a video on rangers financial situation again. I think they may be in trouble since they can't get fans through the gates to spend money in the ground in which matchday income is bigger than all other forms of income for rangers combined I'm sure.
