    If you par boil the sausages at home (place in cold water, bring to boil slowly, turning if necessary because there is a lot better of them). Remove when the water reaches the boil and let cool. The sausages will be fuller in volume, cook quicker as they only really need reheating and browning. A much better sausage. Good video, thanks.

    When lighting and fitting/removing the simmer ring, hold the base firm with one hand using your thumb in the gas line hole, then use the pot picker to twist/lift the wind gaurde off. Always try and avoid manipulating the flame from right above it.

    Hi Karen, Everyone cooked earlier with aluminum. But aluminum ocsideerd and is toxic. I do not think it well to cook. I do not like. Then went Trangia stainless steel pans make and sell. But Trangia stopped stainless steel pans to make. Now they make a pan with a special light weight aluminum. But I do not like this one. (toxic) I bought HARDANODIZED ULTRALIGHT ALUMINIUM. Those are good!

  • @BosisofSweden
    @BosisofSweden4 жыл бұрын

    Okay, so yeah. I understand that mod. no one was changing the handle from Trangia to the Primus. I like that because I agree. The Trangia handle is not good. It damages the non stick material and that's why you shouldn't use metal objects when cooking. I am not sure what the next mod was? About the lid (don't know the word for it in English) that makes the flame smaller, if you don't put it on the burner to begin with it will not be hot when you want to lower the heat on your pan. If you also bend the rivet gently and wiggle the flap a bit it will loosen up. Then, next time you cook, start without it, then put it on with the flap where you want it and eventually, to suffocate the flame just hit it gently with your knife or something to close the flap.

    Have thought about getting a trangia even tho' I don't backpack.First I would take along some garden type work gloves to stop the faff with the simmer ring, secondly I would devise a tool to damp the flame out, something simple like a tent peg with a pulled can top on the end secured with a bit of blue taco or something similar, less faff still, hope that helps.

  • @puma1304

    Modifications ???? I also noticed that the Trangia handle was not that good and ordered Primus... BUT then I was again greatly disappointed since that handle had also many sharp edges which I had to reduce with a file, the rubber pieces are also extremely small and I am not sure how long will they last. Too bad, this is not the quality Primus traditionally had !!! (I own a Primus stove from the mid 50's which is still in perfect condition and could easily work another 50 years... and which also has a terrific vintage look). So I went back again to the Trangia handle and just added some wide rubber bands that I can change anytime and cost nothing! I know Trangia might not be ideal for some tasks, (and might be overprized) BUT it is a classic piece of equipment, extremely proven, very simple (no moving parts) quite ingeniously designed, and has lots of charm! As a former user of whispies and the like I am now much more into spiritus cookers and firebox twig ovens (Trangia + Firebox Nano / Tatonka + Bushbox Essentials) and always carry both. The whispy and my old Primus I still use for bigger camps.

    Cut your sausages in half down the middle, they cook quicker. Also butter some bread at home and put it butter side to butter side and wrap in foil for an instant sausage sandwich. You can use the foil to wrap it after cooking or to hold it so as not to get your hands messy. also insulates and keeps the warmth in so you can clean your pots straight away.

    CM Shek It's true what you say. The titanium pan is not conducted heat well. The pan get very hot in the middle. And the edges remain cool. The "original" aluminum fry pan led the heat much better and more evenly. I will make two new films reviews. One fried egg with aluminum fry pan. and one fried egg with titanium fry pan. Trangia sells the duossal line where the inside linings of the aluminum pots and pans are stainless steel. Very robust. The aluminum is a great conductor of heat dispersion and the stainless steel can take a beating. Easy clean up. I'm in Canada so I buy anything Trangia at Canadian Outdoor Equipment. They sell internationally.

And... um... well the rest is just surface damage I guess. It is still works 100% so your right! It is indestructible! Hahaha. And it's the one I take on all serious trips. At the moment I no longer cook with the titanium frying pan. The pan is difficult to get hot for all the edges. That makes it difficult to fry an egg, for example. I am now cooking again with my Ultralight Hardanodized aluminum frying pan. Thank you for watching and your kind response. I really appreciate that.

    ok but why the assing around with the top> got on my nerves lol, you just screw the simmer top on before lighting! that's it, you don't burn your fingers that way, and you can just turn it off when you want

    The simmer ring doesn't screw on, it just sits there, the cap that screws on is solid and the simmer ring sits on top of it when the stove is closed.

    Not trying to be one. I'd actually like to know how you manage the simmer ring when it is recessed in a stove without it being horribly fiddly and likely to burn you. The thing sits too loose to adjust it without holding it in some way, the whole ring spins when you try to close it, it's the only thing about this burner that bothers me as it's the best design out there but making adjustments can be a real pain.

    Liam Phoenix I duno, just make adjustments before its red hot :-), just set it up and cook, I never found an issue with it, just light it, cook done, I had one for a year maybe used it 15-20 times. its alright, bit posh, find it a bit bulky, but that's it, its pretty easy to use have not burnt myself once :-)

    Neither have I :) I wear gloves when cooking though, with those things on I could theoretically stick my hands in the fire and be fine.

    Nice video. I am awaiting my Trangia set with great anticipation. I don't know if you care to recut the explanations of handle modification, but if you do, you could correct the English a little: Unlike romance languages, English does not have masculine and feminine forms. Therefore, every reference to "he" and "him" should be replaced with "it". The handle has no gender in English! :-)

    David Pearce Hi David, Thank you for your kind words. You're waiting for you new trangia. You will not regret buying. It's a fantastic set. Bomb proof and always works. You're right about "hey" "Him" and "it". I will try in my next film and write less to make mistakes, but English is not my mother language. So it is very difficult for me. Take care and all the best. Greetings from Scandinavia

    Smells good! Another mod to improve performance is to use a KOVEA Spider in place of the alcohol burner. This really speeds things up and make the flame much better for cooking . You can use the Spider with or without the windshield to save weight and bulk. The Spider also fits inside the Trangia kettle if you want a very compact/fast/stable brew kit. Short demo of it doing a very low simmer here: kzread.info/dash/bejne/hpZ6x9dqftqbm6g.html
