My Grandfather was stolen from me the year he retired. I was 13, and it was just days before our trip to his little island in Canada. He was my rock. Quiet, could build or fix anything, we just had a simple two person 10 foot push pull hand saw. We would take the boat around the island, to find a birch or cedar or giant pine that had died, tow it to the boathouse and cut dock cribs and firewood. He would have really appreciated this saw. It's a masterpiece of design and fabrication. So well thought out and incredibly efficient, no corners cut, and no macho extras. The power and the hydraulics are perfect, I mean the whole thing just flows! Not one second of bogging, the edge cutters, conveyors, and the lifts and shuttles - beautiful machines. That's real America. Built to do it right. Expensive? No. Investment, Yes. I was just browsing Elite Tools website and saw😇 them. Really great work!

I bought a used Baker 3640E two weeks ago and I'm setting it up exactly like this. My building is 30' × 110'. Last October at the Paul Bunyan Show in Oh. I bought a new Baker edger. I have all of the live rolls and live decks for material handling. Been working 7 days a week to get it all installed. Can't wait!!

@@patrickstammeyer6368My Baker sawmill is running just fine. Like I said I bought it used. I've replaced the band wheels, put new roller guides and greased everything. I can cut 1000bf per hour cutting oak. If I'm grade sawing, the bf per hour goes down some because you have to turn the log to get the best face. I've learned that I have to change the blade more often than my other mill. But I'm cutting more lumber a lot faster. I would buy another Baker mill in a heartbeat if and when I have to.

Nice setup. I like that sawdust cleaner under the edger.

That’s a slick setup. We have to hand stack tie at the end of the green chain it sucks.

How much do these start at? Good set up and it looks like a easy millrite position for a say three person run in shift operation

Can you put a gate at the back of the roll case and make it so that you can send stuff off the back? I was thinking that at the end of it you could have a shaker conveyor feeding a chipper. Make the edger man have a little less to do

That is definetly a possibility. As seen in the video, there are two automated stackers. Therefore, in order to accomplish that we have a stop that raises and lowers. we would just need to put cylinders on the last stop to allow it to lower and let material flow off the back.

How big of a building is needed to house all of it??

Can you tell me how many watts of eletricity this setup would use in a month based on 8000 board feet of lumber processed in a day? I cut mostly balsam fir and white spruce.

I don't have a kw usage for you but the system uses just under a 100 hp and on 480 voltage it will require 200 amp service. The largest motor is the head motor at 50hp so the maximum load amperage on 480 is 65 amps. Hope this helps.
