A couple tips here. I assume you're playing with the Seamless Coop mod. In this mod every time you die your stats are lowered, to raise them back up, you need to rest at a grace. Also most things you kept running into can be broken by rolling or jumping through them. Speaking of rolling, when you get knocked down, you can roll, so that you don't just take damage on the floor.

Seamless coop multiplies every enemies hp bar for each player, so reason why you see yourself doing like 2% to hp bars is that. Also every time you die in seamless coop thats not a boss fight you get a decay effect on your stats since enemies are supposed to respawn when you die in the base game, you remove these effects by sitting at grace. Biggest reccomendation is explore MEGA get to like level 25 atleast before you fight godrick, especially as a new souls player, i reccomend a peninsula down the south road, other then that good luck. Dunno if theyd see this but we'll see

Also, the reason you are doing little damage is due to the mod you have to rest at a grace to get rid of the rot essence. Another tip is jump jumping moves your hit box and is going for dodge low blows. We would really love it if you beat the game because the beginning is always hard. But it's a great experience once you get the hang of it, so please.

The damage being lowered is because of the Seamless Co-Op mod your using, when you die with coop a nerf is applied to you until you rest at a grace (I believe resting fixes it)

yeah if you are using the seamless coop mod, each time you die it lowers your stats, which is why you do 2 damage. rest at a bonfire/grace thing and that will reset you back to normal

Sipho its not the game, its the mod's fault that you are doing 2 damage, when you die sometimes you get a rot essence debuff that can make ur stats low. Also skill issue

I just finished my first play through so watching you guys suffer what I went through brings me joy. It did get really fun after the first 2 hours.

Don't worry about never playing a souls game guys. Elden Ring has to be the best game to start at. as its the most forgiving. other souls likes just pin you against a rock and a hard place, while elden ring allows you to explore endgame areas to nab the loot before even facing the 1st boss :) Edit: the reason your damage is ass is probably due to the Co-op mod you guys have. each time you die you "rot" meaning your stats decay hella hard. resting at the grace heals all of it. Hope i helped some

Tips stay out if the castle if you go south you can find lots of easier bosses and other stuff LEVEL UP IT WILL MAKE THE DIFFERENCE also sypho if your using a shield I'd recommend using a medium shield light shields like the buckler shield are purely for parrying and your not there yet the best shields are heavy shields but you can't parry either them and upgrade your weapons as much as you can at the moment you need smithing stones to upgrade and if you go to the first church you see you will find a anvil to upgrade your stuff also if you see a like black spot surrounded by red on the map that is a mineshaft GO TO THEM THEY HAVE GOOD LOOT UPGRADE MATERIALS AND EASY ENEMIES I really hope you guys keep playing this I know it's hard and it seems like no fun but it's my favorite game and I love and I bet you guys will to you seem to never give up which is perfect for this game

Hey there, i watched this video yesterday and i kept thinking why u would do 2 damage each swing, the reason is the mod you are playing grants the access to full co-op but makes it balanced, for example each time you die u get rot, that drains your statistics and it STACKS so if u die too many times without sitting at a grace( which removes all your rot) eventually your stats are gonna reach 1 as a value, and since in elden ring all weapons have a star requirement, you probably didn’t have the stats to wield your weapons, and when you don’t u do 2-3 damage each swing, it usually shows a prompt on the weapong when you don’t meet the requirements, but since your stats are not actually lower but only temporarly lower the game doesn’t show that. So when you start doing zero damage or your health is as tiny as morgoott wiener just simply sit at a grace togheter. Hope this helps!

A bunch of other comments have already mentioned the rot essences that debuff your character (in Sipho's case reducing his damage) when you die, and reset when you rest at grace. But you might still be confused why it even exists. Basically it's to discourage cheesing areas. When only one player dies in Seamless Coop, the area doesn't reload, which means you can hypothetically clear areas by having one player respawn over and over again. The rot essences are there to make it harder and harder each time you try this, by accruing with each death until the area is reloaded (hence why your damage comes back after reopening the game-quitting to main menu or desktop reloads the area when you return). Pretty sure you can see the rot essences in the inventory after you receive them, telling you what their effects are. But even still, as a new player you're probably wondering how you were supposed to know this in the first place. And in all honesty, the mod was created with players who had already experienced the game and were dissatisfied with the coop system, so they'd naturally be able to pick up on it easier. It's no surprise you felt you were being unfairly punished from out of nowhere.
