Grew up in wainui and started my hunting career 46 years ago in there have shot some good stags over the years one memorable one 50 yards from flycamp after first light after it starting up at 1 am and keeping me awake I was wearing nothing but grundies and bush shirt when I shot him nice 12 great days hot barrels mate

The frustrating thing about the orongas is the research area has the best streams to hunt imo.. Greens

The term Gold Fish Bowl came from Robbie Innes or Tony Gates I think back in the late 70s. In the Roar don't camp as per this Video, camp as per previous episode when you spooked a Deer that barked back at you. Simons large 10ptr in Rod and Rifle Sept 2014 is in the bush to your right where you shot the Hind. Really enjoy your Videos places like Observation Spur, Mt Tapokopoko, etc Dean

Thanks Dean, best comment yet for me, hands down. I've only been on the face of the eart since 1992, so there is lots of history to soak in yet. That stag I filmed was right below the campsite you're talking about. Appreciate it, and I'm excited for the roar 👍

Hi mate well done for not shooting velvets. Hate seeing them shot. Also, I know you have a straw. But have you considered the filter system "Grayl". Much faster, you could possably syringe into one as well. I have the original Grayl and swear by it. I got mine on flybuys, but Torpedo I think sell them now. Cheers Rasta NZ. ( Ruahines)

Thanks Russ. I have seen them but try to keep all my gear small, minimal and as little weight as possible.

Been there plenty of times but didn't know there was a name for it. It sits only just inside the forest park boundary. The boundary cuts along the eastern side of the clearing. Have personally never seen any reasonable heads in that area but that's not to say there isn't any around. I wrote a story of a stag I shot in the roar not far from there on the hunting and shooting forum. I'll try and find the link.

252 in the last 15 months. Still haven't made much of a dent though. I see you have a video on a chamois hunt as well, I'll have to check it out when I get the time.
