Older, than his personality and character role as the voice for the audience who don't know what the hell is going on, would suggest, in contrast with Kurapika, who is the voice for the audience who DO know what the hell is going on, and yet younger, than his appearance would suggest. Mainly the lanky height and subtle facial hair.

Honestly I prefer the butterflies, feels more like the cheeky and sadistic type of thing Hisoka would do: Making a spectacle that *pretends* to try to undermine cruel violence like that.

But I mean, we can pretend he's just using some trick (and lying about there being "no smoke or mirrors!") !spoiler! like he does later in a certain tournament arc when his arms get torn off. If it weren't for the explanation they gave I wouldn't have known what happened and thought it was impossible for him then too.

To be fair, the show isn't meant to get dark yet. The show starts happy, get. Alil dark and happy, then drops into darkness, then picks back up with happier tone then drops all way down into depression

The contrast between the scenes of Kurapika's and Leorio's motivations is amazing. Kurapika's scene has this harrowing melody, heightening the emotional and horrific nature of the crime committed against the Kurta, with a heavy focus on the eyes, as all we see are representations of what happened and not the actual scene of the crime. It is symbolic and artistic. Leorio's scene is just accompanied by cicadas, as we see with our own eyes EXACTLY what happened in silence. His friend died from a curable disease because they couldn't afford the treatment. It is brutal and realistic. Kurapika's backstory is that of a protagonist. His clan was slaughtered and he seeks revenge on the band of criminals who did it. It is horrible, but it still feels fictional. Leorio's backstory is that of a real person. It is something that even in modern society we could believe happened to someone. It's objectively less horrible as what happened to the Kurta, but it feels infinitely more real. The contrast between the two makes the discussion one of my favorite sequences in anime.

Leorio is what you get when you live poor and live hard, shit ages you fast. Also in the Dub Leorio is voiced by Matt Mercer.

And from that day forward one of the cutest friendships in anime history was made

The Gon and Killa friendship is up there with Frodo and Sam. One of the best in all fiction.

What's funny about Tonpa is that he's taken the exam 35 times has made it near the end multiple times but always willingly dropped out so he could retake the exam again just to mess with the rookies. He is clearly qualified to be a Hunter and what he should have done is passed and signed up to be an Examiner then he would actually be paid by the Hunter's Association to do what he loves.

Hey Alicia, thanks for uploading everyday consistently! Some days just watching something comfy with someone even para-socially means a lot! I find myself excitedly waiting for new uploads for certain shows and I know it's silly, but it really does help getting through some days.

Alicia has done so much with her life and it is always so impressive when i hear that she was one of the top athletes in her province or went to film school, she's all around such a cool and interesting person.

Dang Alicia. It was the opposite for me. I know this seems narcissistic, but I was naturally talented at practically everything as a kid. I have the utmost respect that you had to work hard to accomplish so many achievements. Reminds me of one of my 3 best friends who puts 300% effort into everything, blows it away, then moves on to the next thing. His dedication always amazes me. I was so naturally talented in both intelligence and athleticism that everything bored me. I have next to no achievements to show for it. Honestly a good thing b/c I've already thrown out half of my trophies and I'm constantly trying to talk myself into throwing out more. I hate looking at my MVP golf trophies. I'm a minimalist. Until middle school, there was only a few kids who could compare to me in athleticism and they were built for their age compared to me. Only classes I ever had to actually work hard and study for was AP Calculus and Chemistry in high school. For context, the 23 year old Chemistry teacher sucked and I had the 6th highest score, in the school, on the final exam with a 68.5%. To bad being the immature child I was, I basically got straight D's for 11th and 12th grade to spite my parent for grounding me for failing my first AP Pre Calc test. I gave up on my dreams of becoming an artist b/c 11 year old me couldn't reproduce the detail and quality from top professional artists. After being undefeated in the middle school chess club, I eventually gave up on chess before high school. Every single student, teacher, and family member refused to play me in chess by the time I was 12. Internet chess was not that common of a thing and computer programs were to easy even at "master level". I could go on for hours. I'm 28 and lack the motivation for almost everything. My convictions are about all I really hold onto. As far as my niche construction skill goes, that's all i have. I do have 2 companies fighting for me right now, which is great. One had to lay me off and I talked my way into another company, but the company that was forced to lay me off wants me back and the current company is basically is saying, "we need you, tell us what you want to stay and I'll make it happen".The boss is pretty adamant about keeping me and my child hood trauma makes it hard to accept that, so idk what to do. End me. 😅

Alicia please watch the beggining of the 1st episode in the 1999 anime. The 2011 anime cut out one scene which was literally the start of the manga, and is one of the most important scenes to keep in mind. Everyone in the fandom agrees that moving that scene to happen later was a bad decision.

It's so weird to see HH be someone's healing anime xD But it is fine, Gon and Killua's friendship is a highlight of the series. Imagine if Alicia gets pregnante with twin boys, she will love them to bits I'm sure.

I remember having a huge crush on Hisoka...i should have figured something was wrong with him cause every anime crush I had at the time the characters would be......weird/phycopath/murderer/etc. Sometimes i have to catch myself with Hisoka "he may be hot, bad ass, powerful BUT HES HIM! NO CAI DO NOT FALL BACK!" (She already knows from day 1 she probably wont like him but i wont give my reasons why(even thiugh she probably knows by now))

"So it is Naruto" No,Naruto is HxH - Kishimoto's editors told him NAruto needs a rival and he was reading HxH at the time so he came up with Sasuke and whole Uchiha backstory

FYI HxH was first, so any Naruto similarity that you found came from HxH and no the other way around.

Both Gon and Killua are actually 11 at this point. In the manga, Gon responds, "I'm almost 12", and for some reason, this adaptation decided to round up, which becomes an inconsistency in later episodes.
