Beautiful aircraft!! Just ordered a set of 1/4 scale RC plans for a 1934 L-17 Staggerwing along with a set of plans for a Russian Yak-3 also 1/4 scale.. Haven't built a model like this in 40+ years but I remember the joys it used to bring to me as a child.
Beautiful... one of the most beautiful old single engine radials around.
And then.., there is the G model. The ultimate Staggerwing. Only twenty of the best were built last.
IN 1983 THE UNITED STATES CIVIL AIR PATROL LOCATED IN NEWPORT ME A BEECH 17 THAT HAD BEEN USED DURING IN THE TEXAS WING DURING WW 2 IT NOW RESIDES AT THE BEECH MUSEUM. I WAS THE WING INFORMATION OFFICER THE OWNER WAS ALTON CHECHETTE.
Very nice looking and sounding!!!
Now that's a proper plane.
I have hundreds of hours in the right seat! I was blessed as a boy to fly with my father in his Staggerwing. Such a glorious aircraft! Sure miss it AND HIM!
my dad called this plane the Lear jet of the 30s it was fast had retractable landing gear you had to be pretty rich to own one back then

My Dad called it the Learjet of it's day. I grew up flying copilot in my Dad's Staggerwing. Serial number G-20. The very last one built. I miss her...
How smooth and slick looking are these planes! Amazing that car body design took so long to catch up.

Love that plane!
Just flipping beautifull!
Opinion.....staggarwing is sexiest aircraft ever...beech 18 second....or versa vise.
Both of those Staggerwing models are 40's vintage, the first one shown is a D-17S and was a military ship built during the war, the last one is a G of which only 20 were built all after the war.
Love is in the air :)
