It's not that they want to look good. It's WAY more dark and twisted than that. I remember being called a homophobe on Twitter because I was having a soccer debate with a supporter from another team who just happened to be gay because I responded to one of his tweets with the 🤮 emoji. A soccer debate. Nothing to do with sexuality.

This is the many reasons why I’m never, ever, under any circumstances making a Twitter account, not even a private Twitter account. Twitter is a cesspool of toxicity and people who are willing to cancel anyone based on hearsay and rumors, not actual proof and context. And it also brings out the dark side of people you’d never expect to see (including the famous), that can take a harsh toll on you. I’m a part of the disabled community (Autistic) and a half black woman, and have been a fan of Felix since 2014, he’s a good dude. I’ve had my fair share of prejudices for my autism in the past and it’s hurtful, however I also feel bad that he’s constantly being “canceled” from terminally online people for ridiculous reasons, and for reasons he already addressed and apologized for years prior; thus ruining his life and career and spreading misinformation about him, no wonder he deleted his Twitter account. I condemned and forgave him for the bridge incident in 2017. (The WSJ fiasco also in 2017 was BS btw, he’s innocent there). I’ve been through cognitive dissonance with the horrible people I once had in my life, it sucks. Good video, Kelly.

The thing that kinda bugs me about it is how nobody seems to realize that you only normalize characteristics you can make fun, so even in the case that the mocking was at being deaf, by reacting and shutting people down over it that only further alienates regular people who mock themselves and others because its just what you do. I've noticed this bizarre mindset infecting people even outside social media. My dad isn't on any social media, but he jumps to wild conclusions all the time based on the loosest of associations. Some examples (this turned out longer than I expected; I don't expect anyone to read it all but I feel it's important I share this for posterity, and because sometimes the most mundane everyday experiences can shed some light on valuable insights that only take a bit of reflection to encounter; read however much or little you want, it's here for anyone who does want to): 1. If we're playing a multiplayer game and he tries to give me an item, but I already have it, he'll get all butthurt and say he's not going to try to help anymore because "You never want my help anyway" (even though he successfully gave me something like 10 minutes before, and I've asked him for advice a few times in the last week, so that's untrue both in-game and IRL even in such a short timeframe). 2. I'm trying to explain something to him, he's not quite getting it and going way off track immediately, so I say "alright, here's a really basic example" to which he responds "So I'm stupid, huh? Yeah, I'm a fucking idiot." 3. He says something like "Did you know cherries and peaches are poisonous?"; I was fairly confident he was referring to the pits containing cyanide, while the fruits themselves are totally safe, but I looked it up just to be absolutely certain while I'm saying it. I told him the fruits are fine but the pits have cyanide (or at least compounds that turn into cyanide when metabolized) while the fruits are safe, and that other than the fruit, all parts of a cherry plant are toxic and/or inedible. Then he says something like "so you're saying I should stop eating fruit forever?" 4. He'll say something that's conditionally true under certain circumstances, but say it as if it's universally true under all circumstances, a sort of oversimplification. Such as, "Sp**ks and ni***rs are bad people, I grew up around their neighborhoods and saw all kinds of violence." I'll respond with something like, "it's more complicated than that; there are bad people in any and all arbitrary categories or subsets of people, and while certain environmental circumstances might lead to a correlation between that demographic and negative behavior in certain places, it's not because of their skin color or ethnicity, but the habits and behaviors they learned and absorbed like a sponge from those they grew up around, along with whatever societal pressure of dubious morality and/or social engineering agenda they may have fallen victim to." Then he'll say, I shit you not, something like "So you're saying I should go into the ghetto and let them rob and kill me?" 5. Last example, as this is getting pretty long, but it's too interesting as an individual case study of human behavior to me to stop now. He'll say something like, "The world is a fucked up place. Did you see on the news that a woman didn't want to deal with the responsibility of being a parent, so she strangled her kids and then "self-deleted" (using this wording to circumvent YT auto-censorship)? He responds, "So you're selfish then." I remained stoic but in my mind I'm like "What the fuck is wrong with you dude? How is it remotely healthy or normal to put the whole world's burdens on your shoulders when you can't do anything about it? Should we all just be miserable slobs constantly vaccuuming up mainstream media fearmongering and doomer black-pill porn, leaving us to rot in total impotence, wasting our lives away? Should we throw our lives away meaninglessly trying to fix something that we are not meant or able to in the first place? What a waste; what a beyond-unhealthy perspective to have. Wow." Yes I'm doing something similar to what he does, but in irony and, instead of jumping to a wild conclusion that's only tangentially related, I'm taking what he said to its logical conclusion. Anyway, yes he's incredibly, unbelievably abrasive and frustrating to talk to about anything unless I let him monologue for hours (once he starts I can't stop him without interrupting and pissing him off) without balancing out his whacked out worldview. But the point of me typing this out is to show one specific example of how this kind of mindset has affected someone I know quite well, a real individual, and share how it makes me feel as someone who has deconditioned a sizable amount of mainstream culture's influence on my mind, at least enough to be skeptical and think critically about things which necessitate that for any semblance of sanity or mental/emotional stability. If you got to this point, please share some thoughts or any similar (or contrasting) experiences you may have had. I will see it in my notification feed and read through it. Seeing the people in Twitter is quite the experience.

The thing about Twitter and other social media platforms that blows my mind is that when someone does something controversial or just bad, even if that person has the capacity to change for the better and is showing that they are changing their ways, to Twitter it doesn't matter. They just straight up decide who has the capacity to change or not without even a second thought. Thinking that you can't have fun with or joke about disabled people, like they're actual PEOPLE, *_is ableist._* Walking on eggshells around someone who's deaf, like they don't already know it's a disability and that they're some sort of sensitive creation made of sugar who can't think or stand up for themselves, *_is also ableist!_* Disabled people want to be treated like *people,* not sheltered like sensitive little children. My cousin sits in a wheelchair because of a tumour that makes her body 85% paralysed, but her brain is completely normal. Still people treat her like she's a mentally disabled child, and not an adult woman, which bothers her *to no end!* She makes jokes about her disability, while other able-bodied people are literally uncomfortable with her existence, and are so overly sensitive about it to the point that her life is literally _depressively boring._ She likes to drink, but nobody invites her to parties because they're afraid of someone saying or doing something related to her disability, that will offend *other people.* Because let's face it, none of this fake outrage is actually coming form disabled people, it's being touted by able-bodied people who want to cash in morality points. i think it is typically classified as ableist because they (disabled people) themselves typically don't find the joke as funny as it necessarily entails a reality which they have to live with which they don't like being made fun of. some disabled people are okay with it but that's an exception, not the rule and you could joke with them in private if that is the case. It's just a popular norm across the internet nowadays, if you can't cope with that and have to send ableist jokes in public then maybe there's something wrong with you and there's nothing wrong with protecting a vulnerable group. Your argument literally can be used to justify any hateful jokes on any group of individuals all because you think 1. if you don't joke about it you dehumanize them and 2. some members of the group do not mind the joke. There are many ill-intentioned people who will use what you say to justify their hate. The reason why PewDiePie got so much backlash is because he has done many wrong stuff in the past but people act like he hasn't tried to improve and be better, I don't think he was ableist, but rather just ignorant and he apologised for it. So don't think I'm siding with Twitter hate mob for blowing this out of proportions, just pointing out something which should be kinda obvious.

@@onemoreminute0543 for the bad word I blame rap music, we Europeans grew up listening rap music and for the longest time we had no idea that "white" people couldn't say it. Sure, we knew it was a racial slur, what we didn't know though is that you can't say it in any context whatsoever, even if you don't mean to use it as a racial slur, like they do in rap music.

The theme song for Twitter should be falling in reverses Zombified.

Its ironic how anti racists become the racists with fundamentalism, bandwagons and killjoy fueling their viewpoints. Sometimes i wonder if they belivie their own lies. Maybe someone will call me racist for being "too equal" but i didnt notice any skin difference between her and Pewdiepie so if anyone needs to do their research its the sheeple looking for a reason to hate him. If anything he is a sexist (if you really wanna force it beyond reason.) Im not saying that it would be correct to be racist or that he is a sexist. My point is they being so obsessed with being "correct" coulnt even be bothered themselves to hate him for the "correct" crime.

At this point I think he should stop going their way. Like here instead of removing the segment he should've just put a post up on twitter saying basically "I wasn't making fun of her for being deaf, stay mad hoes." He's tried for years to go their way yet it never stopped them, and it's never enough. These people aren't going on about any kind of morale crusade, they're just trying to control people, that's it.

As a person with a disability, this seriously makes me facepalm hard. This is ultimately embarrassing. It would've been one thing if scarlet may just took PewDiePie's word when he said he didn't know and moved on but no, she continued to paint him as a bad person and expects him to take accountability when that was exactly what he did. Like what the hell did you want him to do? Did you want him to keep the clip up? I am so happy I left Twitter. Everyone there will just cherry pick any harmless thing they say and manipulate it in an evil narrative. To me I think scarlet was being sensitive, pretty ungrateful and pretty unfair. Getting the wrong idea about something is one thing, sticking to that wrong idea after being corrected is a whole another form of stupidity.

Thing is, twitter users HATE being wrong and rather than accepting that they’re wrong, they just double down. There’s also the fact that pewds has had a lot of controversy from twitter and being the website of information and assumptions it is, people immediately think the worst of people in there. It also gives them a justification of cyberbullying under the pretense of “oh he’s problematic so I’m going to bring shit up from ten years ago, just bringing a w a r n e s s pls stop supporting him” There’s no point in bringing up stuff that he’s already taken accountability for imo.

Whether or not opinions are shared isn't what was being talked about, but if someone else who has a disability (I have aspergers myself) and can understand what Felix was doing, and could be bothered to *actually* look into this, there is no reason no one else can. "They tend to lack the capacity to think of others-" Yeah nah, rather it's an expectation to be a mature adult and not get so bent outta shape over literally nothing. I would wager having a disability like this lady did would help with emphasizing with someone but I guess you just conveniently leaved that part out of your comment.

My coworkers said that him leaving a pinned comment and removing the segment isn't enough, and eluded to him needing to make an apology video addressing the whole thing. I suck at standing up for my opinions, but I did briefly say that he's "retired" online, basically. He's just trying to do his own thing in his corner of the internet. He's not wanting to prolong drama over and over like before

He fixed it the way he could making a whole "apology video" would be so unnecessary and there would still be people who would think it was insincere and not enough. I also don't understand how making an "apology video" makes it any better? Most of them are just clickbaits anyway and calls for more drama.

I'm watching a video, about a man reacting to reactions of a video about another man...watching a video. What a loop of entertainment we've created..

I think the reason that a lot of completely braindead tweets get way more likes than they should, is because the people who share these god awful opinions are actively looking for people who agree with them. As easy as it might be to lose your faith in humanity everytime you see a horrible tweet get 100,000 likes, it's important to remember that most of the people who liked it were looking for that exact tweet to validate their abysmal opinions.

And it doesn't help that media giants like Twitter and Meta actively target these groups with exactly the kind of content they want to see which helps keep their minds more closed and generate more traction and activity on said platform, which in turn generates profit! I believe Facebook got into some legal heat a few years ago when it was leaked that their algorithm would profile groups such as pseudo science and actively target them with related media while preventing them from seeing content that they would disagree with!

I didnt even know about the make a wish thing. I dont watch every pewdiepie video, but i do follow him often, and i have to say, he can take credit for a lot good deeds. From what i recall, he doesnt boast about it for credit or approval, he just does it and moves on. He really is just a good guy and it pains me to have these freaks on twitter that havent even come close to contribuiting to society as much as he has and still continues to do. Great to see @theactman defending pewds.

My knowledge of the "Pewds-verse" is limited, too. I didn't care for his content back in 2013 when I first watched YT, but I've started watching him out of respect and admiration for his dedication to his channel and his community for a year now. I've watched thru a bunch of his past and present conent, and he seems like a really humble guy. His closest friends also promote inclusivity (jacksepticeye and CinnamonToastKen) of all types, and doubt they'd wanna hurt their brands if he was misogynistic behind closed doors.

Ive been watching the guy on and off since March 2014. and I can assure you guy ALMOST NEVER mentions all of the good deeds he does, and even when he mentions them it is usually because he is doing some charity event that he wants people to support so it goes better and not because he wants to boast. Im not his fan, I have youtubers that i like way more. but to hate this guy is honestly sad, it takes an hour of watching him to see what a positive, well minded oerson he is, and he tries to improve himself every step of the way. he is not flawless by any means, but definitely more good than bad

I'm pretty sure he still donates 100% of his KZread membership earning to charities too. Dude has raised million(s) for charity as a single individual when corporations and governments sit back and watch the world burn, there are few people more worthy of my respect then Felix Arvid Ulf Kjellberg.
