As a child abuse survivor: abuse comes in many forms, psychological abuse really messes with survivors and prevents them from speaking out for a long time because of the belief “well they aren’t hitting me so it isn’t abuse”. Abuse can come in the form of financial abuse, isolating you from friends or family, love bombing, ignoring your right to consent and right to withdraw consent, gaslighting, threatening, these are all forms of abuse where someone isn’t physically touching you but are all still abuse. If you are unsure then there are resources online to help you better identify forms of abuse, understanding abusers tactics like DARVO (Deny, Attack, Reverse Victim Offender), making sure you can document what you can and talking to someone. Good example is narcissism, look how Wilbur made his “apology” all about him, and didn’t actually apologise for his actions, he’s made himself the “victim”, he speaks about how he’s grown and improved but also refuses to acknowledge any harm he’s actually done. Know that you aren’t alone, know that there are communities available that WILL help you however we can, know that we all believe you will do amazingly in life and can escape. Much love to you all Edit: also please seek professional medical help, domestic abuse can lead to cPTSD (which is what I have, cPTSD is most commonly found in victims of domestic abuse and child abuse) which does need properly medicated and treated. @@tbkswagg I don't really see what your point is. A content creator doesn't deserve their audience for just existing. They have to earn it through being likeable. Shubble didn't name Wilbur when she made her accusation for legal reasons (it's a he-says-she-says situation after all - difficult to prove in court and would likely be much more upsetting for the abused than it's worth). Wilbur himself confirmed it was about him, and confirmed that he did bite her (though he claimed it was consensual). He was a bit of an ass to her when they were supposed to be each other's significant other, and now he's getting backlash from it as people don't like him anymore because of his actions. Also, major _major_ yikes on that comment about abuse being two-way-street a lot of the time. If Shubble was abusive towards Wilbur in turn, then that's his right to speak up about, but as he hasn't so far, it is very weird to just assume it from nothing. Abuse _is_ often one-sided. Very very often. And abusers can be amazing people the majority of the time. Wilbur has shown good sides, and now he's also shown a side his fans think is unacceptable, and really that's that.

See the biggest thing that annoys me about his statement and the specific wording of it is that he says that he thought that the behavior he was exhibiting was consensual when Shelby didn't say it wasn't consensual. Shelby said it was the fact that he started to basically go against the safeword and do extra things to make sure that his biting her would be worse than before. Anyone with even the most minute knowledge of BDSM or pleasures like this could fucking tell you that safewords are to be followed to a T. If someone is using their safeword you stop immediately, no extra shit goes with it. The fact that he specifies that she consented rubs me as if he's putting words in her mouth to say she's accusing him of something worse than what she did. which would lead a lot of people to question her character. This is not a good way to explain yourself, nor is it an apology. Now this isn't to give a full judgment on this situation, just that the statement is horrible and that this part in particular is worded in a way that puts all the blame on Shelby while also not denying that the situation she described had happened.

I am confused. If she had a problem with her boyfriend why not report this to the police? Obviously if she really had that issue with him then she would've taken drastic measures. This is also one of those things that should've been handled in priviate. Even though both sides try not to name each other it is clear that they still call each other. Twitter being twitter there is always going to be people who tend to believe one side of the story without looking into the conext and those who try memeing on it. Its one of the reasons I hate Twitter and why "Cancel Culture" does not benefit anyone.

@@SoraFan23 Yes i agree Twitter is a shittank filled with idiots and "cancel culture" is a dumbass trend made by idiots who just want to see each other burn. However, situations such as abuse are really really difficult to break out of. Especially if you love said person who is abusing you. I dont think Shelby wanted this public but handling it with a court case or police would have made it poblic anyway. And in her case just a lot of cases of abuse go, its always difficult to prove and/or to get a victims to speak out about the abuse in the first place. This also goes into the fact that even if she reported it, there is a good chance that the police, even with solid groundbreaking evidance, wouldn't have believed her. Some actually victim blame victims which is why many dont go in the first place. I have no doubt had Shelby gone to the police and they heard "I consented to it but i used the safeword and he didn't stop" all they would have heard was that she constented to it. And like i said, the problem isn't that she never consented or didn't consent, the problem is him going against the safeword in general. The other thing is, I am not making a full judgment on this situation, just that his statement does not make him look good in anyway nor does it make him look innocent of what she's said he's done. Its a literal non-apology of I'm sorry you feel that way, oh well its in the past. Now the other part is, I think the reason Shelby talked about this publicly while not naming him was just incase he started to do so to another person he was in a relationship with. This is something that a lot of people will also throw at victims, saying that they should speak out or they are protecting their assulter and that they are now responsible for them making more victims. So either way, if we do believe Shelby at face value she was very much in between a rock and a hard place as people would have said that she's protecting her abuser by not saying anything. Which is apparently what happened before Wilbur outed himself. Now again, this is not to say I immediately believe her, but this is maybe why she came out about her experience with Wilbur the way she did.

@@SoraFan23 police 9 times out of 10 will not do anything. most domestic abuse cases get swept under the rug. plus a lot of people who are abused dont realize theyre being abused until they get out of the relationship. hell even shelby even said she thought they were still friends after they broke up until she realized how abusive he actually was. abusive dynamics are not black and white, humans are complicated. nearly half of victims in abusive dynamics dont report it to the police bc they dont want to get ostracized, victim blamed, or straight up dont realize how much they were being abused. and its not "cancel culture," its a straight up crime.

@@Lokeigh96 Most abusers get off on the control they have over the other person, if the person gave consent to be bitten that hard the abuser feels they don't have that much control over that person, and it would probably escalate to something worse over time anyways. This isn't a "he gets off on biting" situation, this is a "he is abusive and wants control over her by biting" situation. This is a textbook abuser tactic. You start out with the behavior as being something harmless and playful until the person is so invested/in-love they won't leave you. Then you start escalating the behavior and gaslighting them until it becomes harmful, but by that point the other person has already been convinced into believing you care about them and that you aren't hurting them/they deserve to be hurt. Escalating beyond the safe word or biting her in front of their friends/publicly is a way he can exert control over her, which is what he actually wants, not the biting hard.

I think I got Stockholm syndromed by my ex lol, cause she did the same thing to me ( not as deranged and evil as this) but was actively ashamed of it when gone to far, and didn't spread it to friends, she would literally go feral during intense stuff and it felt to me that she couldn't control it, we broke up because she used three chances I gave her and done it three times after, she sent me a message three months after that she is seeking help and that she is sorry, I still think of this relationship fondly, she was understanding, willing to listen didn't shame me when I told her my insecurities, fights were done without screaming on principal us vs the problem, she could be a bit of a pain but would always apologize after, I think there is a difference here, this guy was getting off to pain while I think my ex couldn't control it or who know maybe Ive got Stockholm syndrome lmao

@@hex_1733 Her claims hold more weight to them for me as she hadn't named anyone, and then Wilbur came out and confirmed she was talking about him, and in his apology he was mainly talking about himself and how he has moved on and is a better person. I've never seen or heard of an apology where someone primarily talks about how much of a bad person they were but also dodging a fair bit of the allegations before talking about how they've been working on themself. He claims the biting was consensual but doesn't address the fact Shelby claims that she was being bitten harder and harder and being bitten on tender spots, and then moving to her legs and whenever she would say their safe word he would bite harder and or ignore it. He doesn't talk about either of those nor denies them just saying it was purely consensual. He claims there are messages and hasn't shown them out of respect for Shelby, but Shelby claims in response to the apology that there are no messages of it. Hence why unless and until Wilbur Soot provides evidence that he has not done any of that and everything about his alleged abuse is false then for now I am on her side given it sounds far more genuine and valid(for now) than Wilburs shitty response to the allegations. There is always the chance that he is telling the truth, but as for now since he's only made one statement in regards to the allegations that wasn't all too good, I am in support of her(I am still skeptical as there is no evidence on her part, but far more seemingly real claims). If he makes another statement that provides evidence and proof that completely disproves everything, then I will support him if that ever happens. Also if you want to insult me or make fun of my current standing on the situation you got to do better than "Dawg are you 12?" as this is a serious situation where everything has to be weighed in(imo) in order to make as an unbiased opinion as possible. If you wish to argue I won't be replying further, but If you're not doing either of those then that comment just comes off with the opposite intent. Either way I'm not replying further. I'm his apology he described the biting as "playful" so he acknowledged that he did do those things but 'didn't intend for it to be that way'. And he can't really prove himself with DMs because 1. If he facts it then shelby obviously has the DMs so he really can't. 2. If he posted them, then he'd be comfirming it more. 3. If he didn't then we all know he's just hiding it away. 4. If there was a big twists and he didn't do any of this, then he could post the DMs/"evidence" (which he can't) and prove he didn't do anything. But he can't prove it because how are you faking a 2+ year relationship? And then he acknowledged that was him in his apology when he says "I'm sorry for the hurt I have caused". He's admitting to hurting someone and doing those things.

@@yasY0L0 I understand your point and view on the situation. I don't know Wilbur as much as anyone in the Minecraft community and I obviously don't have all the information known that is presented. I only watched Shelby's VOD, Wilburs terrible "apology", and I've seen other clips where other creators were told Wilbur bit them and caused them to have bruises which is obviously terrible. I do need to keep digging into the information to understand more of what is being told and what is actually the truth. I am keeping an open mind and will not support what Wilbur has done with biting people, ever. When Wilbur says that he is sorry for any hurt he has caused, I'm mixed to think either he doesn't want to take accountability and only cares to talk about it to save his own ass, or maybe he never wanted to hurt Shelby in the first place because of his really bad habit. And yes, that habit of biting is never ok to do to someone. I think Wilbur needs to admit if he has actually seen their bruises and picking at it, because if he acknowledges that to be true, I do see him to be guilty because he knows what he is doing and is repeatedly harming which he would be aware of doing to someone like Shelby. I don't like to speculate about serious situations like this and only want to present the facts that are shown because I hate to be biased and I don't want someone's life to get ruined over false accusations, if it is false. Because I don't know Wilbur, nor Shelby. I've seen past allegations that were false towards someone like kwite and people these days are acting like, "guilty, until proven innocent." I can't express how really bad that is because everyone would dog pile on me to shut up and never speak again.

@@YeBoFrogO oh that apology was to save his own ass 100% It got to the point were people started speculating of ChatGBT wrote it to save himself. I don't really think he took accountability once. He brought up the points in the VOD then defended himself for each point before saying he apologised for the hurt he'd caused. Like he's sorry it turned out that way. Not a single, "I'm sorry for hurt you" he makes a generally form of apology and can't even address the other person. It's like he can't even say shelbys name out of shame or he doesn't want hid views to find out. Either way, it's a shitty apology. Even Dream responsed and APOLOGISED ON WILBURS BEHALF- and it was a better apology then Wilbur. And dreams not even a fault. I don't think I've ever seen an apology to someone with more 'Is' and 'Mes' then 'yous' or the person's name. And like I mentioned before, theres a roughly 18 minutes, detailing evidence after it. But also looking at Wilburs actions after being called out. Banning MOD, trying to convince his band Lovejoy it wasn't him AFTER making an apology showing it was him, and even convincing people on Spotify to continue listen to his songs because he "needs the money" currently.

@@yasY0L0 I mean like what you said, Wilbur did say, "I want to extend my sincerest apologies for any pain that I caused." You can believe whatever you want and think he didn't mean it or not, but you can't just ignore something factual, no matter how much you hate someone. I do 100% agree that it is weird for Wilbur to not mention Shelby's name and not providing any evidence that Shelby confirmed to Wilbur of consent when it came to the behavior of biting. Can you show or send me a link to both of when Wilbur talked to his band, like how you mentioned, and him talking to people on Spotify to listen to him so he can get money. Never saw that and am very curious and eager to see it.
