Uhm. You think they need to be told they don't need to use their platforms for advocacy? You don't think it's just something they actually felt compelled to do, because they believe in the advocacy? His advocacy isn't the issue. The extremist sect, he was unaware of, did what they do and went radical mode the moment he had a dissenting opinion. I think you might be taking the wrong lessons from what actually happened here and conflating it with a failure from advocacy instead of advocating with the wrong person. You can use YOUR platform for whatever you want. It just seems weird to take things and try to dehumanize them, try to make it seem like it is something they felt they had to do rather than something they wanted to do. What I've noticed is that while Socialists/Communists and Fascists have opposing political viewpoints, their personalities are basically identical. Arrogant, believes that they're superior to others, blames an external enemy for all of their problems, lacks compassion for anybody not part of their in-group, and they have overall lack of self of self awareness of how insane their behavior is. I say this as a person who is center-left myself. While I don't think that the far left is necessarily as 'bad' as the far right, they're not all that good either. A lot of socialists think having "morally correct" political opinions is what constitutes being a good human being. They don't care how their actions and words affect other people.

I dislike them both and don’t feel sorry for them. Jordan P was absolutely correct. Ethan and Hasan make fun of everyone else in brutal ways, but when the same fickle mob is attacking them, they can’t handle it. Served them right.

It's really sad that like four of the top five largest political streamers are straight up communists that actively cheer on the destruction of anybody who disagrees with them politically (from cancel culture all the way up to literal genocide). These streamers have legitimately radicalized literally hundreds of thousands of young people into becoming complete and utter human garbage. I hope Destiny is able is to continue growing and pulling some of these extremists back towards the center. Although I really wish we could get some major centrist and right leaning streamers too as to balance things out, so the space isn't such an echo chamber. On one hand I empathise with Ethan on this situation but the way he treated and acted in other situations has left a bad taste in me. Hopefully he can see how unhinged and ideologically driven the fans he has cultivated which were supposed to be better than the former audience he had before. There were times when he did not act in good faith, played ignorant, and accused people without proper evidence to see it turn on him, I hope he learns from this.

I don't empathize with Ethan at all. He thought he was being on some real clown medicine when him and Piker tried to normalize calling white people whip crackers. He's gone from an asshole that bullies the mentally disabled who can't defend themselves to an asshole that bullies people he believes (in his mind, ironic since he's a millionaire) have no right to defend themselves because they're privileged. He's always been a shit-stirring bellend. He's treated numerous of his podcast guests with absolute indignity, some of which were people that idolized him and made stuff for him as a token of gratitude. Ethan deserves no empathy or sympathy, at least in my opinion. He's the living embodiment of "I have a kid now, so I must become the most unlikeable person within a 5000 mile radius".

It's a shame it took Hasan becoming off the walls radicalized for Ethan to realize that he's not worth having a conversation with.

Extra: what I mean by benefits is about if "this side of the politics" is benefiting their narrative and views. I mean he become more richer than when he was still beloved by all, no matter which is the side of the politics both of them has something to gain out of it, either the benefits is money or supports. I still believe if someone who's lived a luxurious life and born from a rich family like Hasan can call himself a socialist and people just support it, I think the benefits from that side of the politics is pretty good (for him at least).

One of the funniest things about Hasan Piker is that his Wikipedia proudly states he graduated "cum laude" from Rutgers in political science and another major. Which sounds really impressive and that he knows what he's talking about until you find out that "cum laude" at his school is just having a 3.5-3.6 gpa and his other major was communications. So he basically was just an average to decent at best student at just a decent school with one of the easiest second majors to tack on to your transcript. It's like the joke in Nathan For You's intro but serious. Which sums up Hasan so much. Making bold statements about himself and what he says until you look into it and realize it's mostly bs.

He thinks that talking louder than everyone else means he is winning, when in reality he wouldn’t hold up in a mediated debate. Being a champagne socialist is profitable, so Hasan plays into it. You should check out WillyMacShow's coverage on Hasan. He basically dissects everything about him you just mentioned. He even had a debate with him that Hasan thought he could easily win and he lost horribly because everyone could see how blatantly bad faith Hasan is.

He's not unwilling to air out his grievances, Ethan is just non combative as a whole so he takes a passive approach to confronting Hassan on his poor policing of his audience. There was a live stream he was on with Hassan where he was simply trying to explain the israelien perspective on a one-state solution, one that he doesn't believe in mind you, and not only did Hassan not do anything about his entire chat calling him a genocidal Zionist, but he tried justifying the rhetoric his audience was spewing for over an hour. In that stream, you could tell the difference between how Ethan saw Hassan, and how Hassan saw Ethan. Ethan thought he had a friend, and was asking him to moderate his chat as such, whereas Hassan was treating Ethan like a business partner. It's no wonder he's a little evasive when discussing the topic, because he feels like he lost a friend.
