I heard a story that they battled the Nicholas Brothers at the Cotton Club or something like that and that they were going at it. Jumping off the walls, Splits off the balconey etc etc etc. It must have been amazing. Too bad no camera were there to capture it

Amazing acrobatics. I remember hearing this at the Wheel in Manchester. I now see where much of if the dance style came from. Fascinating. I only went twice in 1969. I didn’t like the drugs scene though I loved the music. ❤

Sad you nicked another of our Mod mid-60's rock anthem from the Locarno Streatham Hill '66. It came out way before it was re-discovered to become 'Northern Soul'. Mick C (Saaf London Mod)

Sorry Mick, you are mistaken. This isn't a rediscovery. It has always been a favourite dancer in Soul clubs (Like the Flamingo in Wardour Street London and the Twisted Wheel in Manchester) since its release in 1966. You may be confused by the name 'Northern Soul' which came later. like the expression ' Rock Anthem'. Watch this video. @@topsypart2880 for me the word pop means fake & mr jackson was the record labels yes man.sadly millions of people havnt got a clue about music because they have only listened to pay to play fakes commercial radio.there was a time where people made music with heart & soul & experienced the natural high.music was not a career back then it was a way of life the people i love lived for music.i search mainly for things outside the charts i found a lot of great 50,s soul as well.but its the 60s small independent labels that do it for me the most.i do add some lesser known gems from the major labels. but that talent soon dries up or sells out & oh yeah disco is a dirty word in my house.its banned on my channel & my record deck lol.oh yeah slap bass is banned on my channel as well lol.hello lancashire Agogo i get what you mean & i know you have heard many gems ive added quite a few of yr uploads to my playlists great post peace...

@@topsypart2880 no worries mate ive added alot more to my playlists ive done 15 lists.one is called 60s top garage punk psych rarities.its got over 600.000 views & about 3800 rare gems, ive done about 8 lists i think covering soul mainly on small independents.i even went back to the 50,s & found some great bands.,50,s 60,s & early 70,s blues.late 60,s to mid 70s jazz funk fusion before disco lol.a rare live gigs list as well with a mixture of great musicians.sadly you tube have changed my home page it only display,s a few of my lists you have to click on created playlists to get them all.ive saved quite a few playlists & it shows more of those lists.i i dont mind getting other people views im gutted cause people think ive only done 9 lists. i like to raise awareness to great bands that most people have never heard so your most welcome to check me out.im always adding more & im glad to share my musical knowledge unlike many dj,s if anyone asks me i will tell them the right band & song title.ive brought a few books & ive still got a huge pile of records to go through yet.my goal was to cover each music scene but only add the best to the lists.sadly ive lost about a thousand top gems since i started & you tube dont give me the band & song title.so its frustrating because i spend so many hours building these lists & at any time i can lose hundreds but that wont stop me lol peace...
