TM Lost players when they see a headless driver: This is ridiculous, how can he drive without a brain, let alone see. Not realistic at all. Also TM players when you play as ghosts, an eyeless boxer, demons and the literal grim reaper: So true king, glory to the Calypso Empire Looking forward to challenges!

Ive never played this one, but Dark Tooth looks fricking sweet. His design is sick.

This was THE game for my PSP back in the day. I love it!

Something interesting about Cousin Eddy is that his vehicle was literally a destructible environment object in Harbor City before they converted it into a playable vehicle. Why as a rehashed version of Minion's boss fight from Black is unknown, but I always thought he looked like something from the Black universe than Head On. Also the upgraded version of his special changes to Minion's flamethrower from Black.

Side note:Why is Krista Sparks (Grasshopper) a ghost, in the exact same car, when she was a robot in TM2? I mean robots have souls i guess lol

Basically Dark Tooth is what could be considered the "Minion" of head on

It should be noted that some vehicles in TM: Lost do have certain properties changed about their specials. Junkyard Dog can now be hurt by his own special similar to napalms in this game if detonated too close. Brimstone's special is a lot more efficient with homing. You no longer need to have opponents in front of you with Outlaw to access Blue Missiles, so you can treat it like Crazy 8s and mash. Shadow's special is larger and moves significantly slower than in Black. Also her secondary is in Lost and it's much slower. Darkside's special will end when you make contact with an opponent. You don't even need distance between you and the opponent to do damage, you can sit right in front of them and do the same amount of damage. Yellow Jacket's spikes no longer home on opponents, however they can actually hit multiple opponents now, unlike in Black where if one spike hits an opponent the rest faze right through everyone else. Manslaughter's rocks also can hit multiple times and opponents (similar issue as Yellow Jacket in Black) You don't need to do the maximum version of Crazy 8's special to do maximum damage here. It's exactly the same with or without.

Out of curiosity, are you keeping track of where each vehicle is being placed between each game? I'd be really interested to see a video at the end of this tier list series that takes all of the vehicles that re-occur throughout series and sees which of them are consistently the best and consistently the worst. For example, if the same vehicle in different games gets an A in one game but a C in another, that vehicle would average out to a B, compared to a vehicle that's getting an A consistently throughout each game. I'm really enjoying your content and commentary, and would love to see something like this!

Another note: Certain aspects of a special are tied to the upgrade mechanic in this game. I noticed this with Outlaw as their upgraded special weapon has the tapping for more damage feature (still doesn't drain health and its not nearly as much damage as in small brawl unfortunately)

Some of the vehicles in Lost are weirdly different in the most randomly minor ways. Yellow Jacket's spike special doesn't home in anymore Axel and Shadow are missing their secret alternate specials I THINK Crazy-8 is missing the feature where you tap a direction to charge up, but I could be remembering wrong And Minion is just gone entirely which is wack

Shadow's alt. is still in there. Also Axel's character model is positioned slightly different from Black. His legs are closer together and bobs around when driving or sitting still.

I love how Mr.Grimm also lobs napalm with his bare hand. Just badass. Oh and no hate on the outlaw thing. I just felt that there were worse cars, but thats ONLY due to Outlaws special. In Head On however, they are basically only playable for the liling of the character itsself

I also agree with the tier list entirely,EXCEPT for brimstone but only for online. Hes still not great, but his special definitely pierces shields. Very good for online play. Otherwise, list looks dead accurate. Should have never replaced minion man. He was the king. Cousin Eddy is king Shit

The reason why mr slamm, twister and darktooth 's special is quite fast is cause this game was the first one developed with online gaming on mind. Its faster to prevent people from getting stun locked for way to much time. ATV is just a joke character and considering the list of joke characters in the entire series I just dont mind him, its like playing the game at the hardest difficulty

I'm still never played it but I'm would like to in a future, I'm just glad twister and grasshopper special have been significant improved since TM2.

My thoughts of the vehicles from TM Head On: . Sweet Tooth: Pretty Good Special but bulky design and its head its pretty flat, i prefer its design in TM1 and 2 simply because it feels more natural and sinister. Still has the same sluggish handling abd sliw speed. I wish Needles's appearance would have been the same as his TM2 self instead of TM Black but u guess that's its most popular incarnation but i do like his motives for trying to overthrowing Calypso. (7/10) . Crimson Fury: I found the vehicle pretty good to play as , it's design its pretty good and the special its still better than his TM1 counterpart, but this version of Crimson Fury doesn't feel fast maybe because Twister is there too. I do like the driver being an FBI agent trying to stop calypso, feek like his ending should have been canon. (7.5/10) . Spectre: I dont like this version of Spectre, its basically its TM2 self except not as dynamic and its special doesn't have that classic sound that plays when firing its special. It's speed, handling and acceleration are still good its just that it doesn't feel like spectre with design and especially with the driver who just wants to be rich something that doesn't add up to the whole spectre feel. Perphaps i was a bit hard on Ken from TM2 LOL. (7.5/10) . Grasshopper: I do like this version because its special its much safer and easier but its design makes it feel like another vehicle with a new name(at least they kept the color green). One thing i didn't like about this version is its drivers, because its Krista Spark's ghost, i feel like it should have fit very well with Spectre. Despite this it has good speed and handling, pretty decent. (7/10) . Mr. Grimm: Nothing too much to say about this character, it still has great speed, handling and special, though i wish they would have kept its helmet. (9/10) . Axel: Another version that feels weak and feels a bit stiff when playing as, its just doesn't feel as dynamic or powerful as his TM2 and TM4 self. It feels a bit like a faster version of TM3. (6.5/10) . Warthog: Good to play as but feels more stiff than its previous counterpart, i have to admit its design looks pretty neat as it looks like a futuristic prototype humvee type truck, it's special it's pretty effective and smooth but, like spectre, it lost its classic sound. Not a bad Warthog but it could have been more smoother. (7/10) . Shadow: It acts as a mixed between its TM2 self (for its character) and TMB self ( for its decent handling and smooth speed). Nothing else to said except i didn't like too much the driver because of being zombie unless Mortimer was in fact a zombie in TM2. Overall its a pretty good version of Shadow, definitely worth playing as. (8/10) . Twister: Another version that looks as good as its Small Brawl counterpart but with a bit more detailed on its special, i have to say only Head One and Small brawl have the better versions of Twister than TM 2 Twister. It still has great speed and handling but its special feels a little sluggish to look at (7.5/10) . Roadkill: Looks ok and i like that its vehicle looks like an actual junkyard car, it's special its the same as TM2 except it has a charged up ability, which is nice. I think this one, along with TM1 and TM3 does have the feel of been called Roadkill although its TM 1 self its still on the top (7/10) . Outlaw: Nothing too much to say about Outlaw, has the same special except adding Crazy 8's double power ability if upgraded. Its design looks decent but once again doesnt feel as good as its TM2 self although its handling looks ok. (7/10) . Mr.Slam: A little better than it's Small Brawl self since its special doesnt required to use button to activated unless it is for far distance. Although i do admit its design looks pretty sluggish and its handling is stiff but it's still better than TM2. (7.5/10) . Hammerhead: I like this version of Hammerhead but that doesn't mean its powerful as its TM1 self mainly because of its special feels a bit awkard to use due to its jump. Its handling feels good and has decent speed and i like the choice of color they choose (blue), originally TM1 Hammerhead was gonna be blue ( as it can be seen in its lost ending) but they switch it to green. (7.5/10) . Thumper: They finally added the ability that lowrider cars have and like it but uts special doesnt look as good as it use too. It works better with a soubd shockwaver like Axel's except with more firepower. At least it's speed snd its design its more impressive than Spectre's (7.5/10) . Cousin Eddy: Honestly i rather see Darkside in Head On than that pile of silver rv shit that its Cousin Eddy, i mean it's car design looks good because it looks like TM Black Minion but doesnt feel as powerful, dynamic or as sinister as Darkside. Seriously i prefer Darkside. (5.5/10) .ATV: Worst vehicle ever. Almost as bad as RC car from TM4. Nothing to say (0/10) . Dark Tooth: Pretty Powerful and cool to use but its design its bulky and that doesnt have that sinister vibe like its TM2 self especially its head. I do its like being Slam's since it does fit for being an aggressive competitor, however i do not like that its driver are Marcus and Needles and not because its a bad choice, its mainly because it feels like it contradicts there purposes in conpeting in TM in the first place unless its a dream than i can understand or its Charlie Kane at least in the story mode. Nevertheless, this is one of the most powerful vehicles to use and pretty fun to play as. (9/10) Note: TM Head On is one my least favorite TM games on the series( at least on the PS2 version) mainly because it feels like a wasted potential especially with not having Yellow Jacket, Darkside, Pit Viper and some vehicles from other TM games( 3, 4 and Black) to return for one epic showdown, if those vehicles would have return for this game Head On would have been the best one of the series.

I loved this game as a kid. I used Spectre all the time.

My personal favorite tm and generally what I consider a better sequel to tm2. My go to car is either Mr. Grimm or roadkill

I think one of the issues with Mr.Slam in this one his special is also way too fast in extra twisted edition it was at a slower speed in the psp version.

All the times I hear about things being cut in this series makes me want remasters with some of that cut content added in.

I was playing this today on my Twitch channel and i went through it twice. Once with Spectre, the other with Twister and i am loving this game. It is super fun. Despite the Tornado being somewhat weak the spectacle and disruption alone makes it such a cool special. Cant wait to play with the rest of the character's. Side note: The mini "games" used to unlock other characters was a nightmare, especially unlocking Axel

Yeah the mini games and the power ups are my main two issues with Head on. If you could remove them it would probably be my favorite game in the series!

I feel like the upgraded specials should be looked through because It always felt like a mixed bag if they actually make the specials better or not, a good chunk of them are add 1 damage projectile that at least in Mr. grimm's case are pretty worthless, make the cars a tiny bit better like Hammerhead and Grasshopper or make the cars actually better like Spectre's charged ghost missile or even ATV's homing dynamite that SOMEWHAT justifies him being Grimm but worse. Also bit unrelated and it might just be a me thing, but I hate the fact there is a small delay before Head on Grimm actually throws his special.

I have memories of doing Axel's special in Lost but I haven't played that game in an actual decade so it's entirely possible I'm tripping?

Twisted metal 2 was my most played game probobly of all time. Having said that , what about Axel? He is definitely tied in wiry sweet tooth. He was my favorite ,that Shockwave was vicious when used right. absolutely loved Mr.Grimm too.

So for me, the reasons why this game is my favorite, is I feel it's a perfect blend of the zany, colorful world of TM1/2 and the dark, dreadful world of TM Black. They tried to do this with TM2012 but they fumbled it and it was just edgy. Head On is a "requel" of TM2, as in a sequel but also a bit of a remake, with TM2 being one of the best in the series and it improves on it in every way. The characters have a stronger showing here, the engine of the game is more consistent, and the level design is leagues better. For Mr. Slam, I think they intentionally designed him to look like Milton from Office Space. Besides that I think he's stronger here. Twister is an obvious improvement with the special. Grimm, I agree, I much prefer the chopper look (you said hotrod 😝) and it's super cool that he holds the napalm lol. Thumper is only improved by the engine of the game, otherwise it's a downgrade from 2. Warthog, Grasshopper, Axel, Crimson Fury, Spectre, Shadow, Hammerhead, and Roadkill (IMO) are all better than their previous counterparts. ATV I feel was just a cheeky Easter egg from the developers. Most people don't like Cousin Eddy because of the boss battle, mostly because of the top hillbilly. But you don't have hit him directly with the napalm, he also takes splash damage. As for the Teeth characters (lol), this to me is their best designs. I love the recessed head, it looks menacing as hell. I also love the way they play and handle in this game. And Dark Tooth is an absolute trip. He's the guy you go to when you struggle with the game and rage quit. You feel like someone's older brother tagging in to beat the game for you. So yeah...I love Head On. Best TM game ever.

I dont mind that sweet tooth lost his mech super, because all of the TM black events are part of Needle's imagination. So i like to think about him wondering how he could maul all the other competitors (and civilians) with his own kick ass mech, and then when he finally scaped and goes to the event of TM1 he realise that making mechs is hard so he grabs some molotovs and call it a day. With that logic you can assume that needles just expend some of his time between tournament to upgrade his weapon, until he got tired and ask Calypso for the mech, saddly Calypso send the upgrated truck to the ps3 version of sweet tooth and not the original

I think that Gold Tooth was meant to be the Mid-boss of Twisted Metal Harbor City judging by it being a better Sweet tooth

Dark tooth should probably be alone in his on tier, he is straight up broken

Bruh, Cousin Eddy is one of the best car performance wise, yeah he is forgetable but he is just a weaker dark tooth, his machine gun is a homing missile which is super good but not as broken as dark tooth's, his unupgraded special deals decent damage, around 20 or 25, and you can activate it immediately, his upgraded special is not as good, his stat is overall is great, you put him is Trash tier is a total disservice.

Tbh ik Spectre was always an old Corvette but I honestly prefer his head on design

I actually do like Mr. Grimm with the sidecar. In Twisted Metal: Blacks case it functions as a reasonable weapons compartment. Something about Head On's Extra Twisted version looks super stiff to me.

What bothers me about Lost (and I know it’s technically unfinished) is it looks like a PSP variant of Black, something about the car models just look quite a bit worse than Black.

Mr Slam's special in this game is my favorite in the whole series, it's so crunchy and satisfying, plus it deals a lot of damage. Sad to hear you disagree.

Cousin Eddy doesn't deserve to be in Trash tier simply due to his upgraded machine gun. Plus, an RV in Twisted Metal is at least something new. And saying that his special only does 5 damage is just straight-up not true.

As much as I hate Cousin Eddy, his machine gun is replaced with homing missiles that do pretty good damage. I don’t think realistically he could be lower than b tier because of that

Note that the missiles are only homing in the (inferior) PS2 release. In the original PSP version they don't home in. This is the only good change that happened on the PS2 port.

Yeah, aside from losing that visceral slam of Mr. Slam’s special, the speed makes it to where you can’t do setups with other weapons. Not only that, but Dark Tooth straight jacks his special, making Slam a lot less unique :(

This sucks as well because the slamming animation was actually MUCH slower in the PSP version of the game, and looked much more visually intimidating.

Listening to this tier list: everyone has an opinion, but I would love to one v one you as Thumper. My bias might be showing a bit. 😂

Cousin Eddy actually doesn't have a lot of armor. The 10/10 stat is a lie. He actually only has 100 HP, which is the same as Roadkill and Outlaw. All the more reason to put him in the trash tier.

My two favorite vehicles are C tier hahaha (Outlaw and Thumper).

@@VicariousNickGaming Outlaw is mostly for bring back the fast pursuit vehicle from TM2 and TM3, which were my mains back in the day (bringing the Robert’s sibling back is a plus). And like you said, their special is super weak, only connects to one vehicle like in the old days but, doesn’t leach like Meter Maid and doesn’t zap them of the ground like TM2/3. I do think they are pretty fast overall. Thumper is just for the design haha, love the detail on the hydraulics and the new design based on a Pontiac Bonneville. I think the special is ok though, you still get the short range flamethrower with the homing fire balls for long range usability.

I feel your not giving twister enough credit for her special you say its damage it slow but when with you list being based off of having no upgrades her special does 18 damage per vehicle and 18 is the average so its by no means weak

Yeah Axel looks real bad this time around…

Not only is Cousin Eddy ultra trash, but the listed stats lie to you. It shows 10/10 for armor, but it's actually closer to Roadkill's armor, but it feels like less since he's so slow and such a big target

i agree, cousin eddy is definetly the worst mid boss they added to the series. hes super forgettable for sure
