    Excellent vdeo John. This is really cool and I had no idea the Twinkly lights now work with xLights. My wife bought a twinkly tree and a bunch of other strands of twinkly for inside the house, so I have some strings to play with. Appreciate the video

    For some reason I can't get a green light to show when setting up the twinkly controller. I notice I have a box that has "FPP proxy ip/host name below the ip address.

    Great Video. Helped me get started. I'm using existing Twinkly lights with a mix of RGB versions and RGBW versions. Is there any way to get the RGBW versions to output the cool white to match the RGB versions? Thanks!

    easy fix. Go into the model settings and there's a setting for handling white. Tell it to ignore the white channel.

    @@ericsd05 you won't see if it you're grouped with a rgb device because it's automatically turned off. When you are on a specific device though, and it's rgbw, you will have a second slider under color when editing an effect. Sliding it all the way to the left turns off the white channel.

    Question about FPP. Can it just be downloaded to my computer or is it something completely separate? I’m trying to run my show through Xscheduler but I’m getting a lag. I wanted to try FPP.

    You could run it as a virtual machine or they do support running it natively on a Mac, but the easiest way is to run it on a Pi or other supported single board computer.

    So FPP isn't actually needed but it's a small footprint program that can run an XLights saved setup?

    Thank you! You can either find it on your router or in the Twinkly app under "Devices" (little LED icon in the bottom right) then tap the settings cog on the one you want to use and the details will be shown for you.

    Twinkly recently added encrypted connections to their servers. Does that affect their ability to work with xLights? Twinkly Pro controllers have Ethernet connections instead of WiFi. Will those work with xLights as well?

    Very interesting video, but what about the model? In case you wrap all that lights around the tree how are you going to model it in Xlights?

  • @johncoles

    @johncoles

    Жыл бұрын

    There's a few options: 1) You could guestimate it. 2) You could manually build a model. 3) You could use xLights to generate a custom model from a video/photo: manual.xlights.org/xlights/chapters/chapter-five-menus/tools/generate-custom-model#:~:text=The%20Generate%20Custom%20Model%20function,option%20from%20the%20Tools%20menu.

    @@johncoles You could also import the model. Apparently you weren't aware but you can pull the models in through an import from controller button in the custom model's "model data" section.

    I am new to this hobby. I have been learning XLights and everything I can from Utube videos. I don't have any knowledge in wifi. There is a-lot I don't understand with subnet and such. I live in the country so my wifi is lacking a-lot of speed. Do you suggest I take a class on ethernet wifi wiring or something else? I use Udemy mostly for classes. Thanks Dave new but willing.

    you have to do two things: 1. don't use the mobile app at the same time adn 2. Make sure you're outputting to all lights in a group at the same time, if they are grouped. The primary light will shut off streaming to the others if you don't.
