Ive welded stainless and mild steel to cast manifolds with full success so i dont know, ive also heard no to, but like i said its worked for me.

With how hot the turbo gets I dont see any way of this setup lasting at all. The cast holds form very well but those welds and added weight are gonna be interesting for sure.

jameswil I believe it should work great in that position as it will prevent boost creep as to when the wastegate is in a conventional spot gases still pass by building pressure on the hot side I would assume like this the hot side can never really build pressure once it’s open or at least a lot more controllable

Seems like doing that on the housing would upset the flow quite a bit in the closed position.

My fathers suburban he had use to do the same thing with the high beams but it did it with both left and right signals lmao good ole gm and their wiring issues

Did you tig weld it

Curious to know if the wastegate entries will hold up with the 309L filler. I've done some testing welding cast iron, i've tried 309L as well as 312 stainless. I know peening helps a lot releiving the stress. Pre-heating also do wonders on cast iron. I've also heard that nickel 99 is a good filler to use on cast iron.

SuicideCRX I think you should be ok. I've seen the guy on sloppy mechanics do it all the time without any problems. Do not know what filler they used though

Future reference, look up spark testing to differentiate between cast iron and cast steel. Iron doesn't hardly throw sparks. Steel does.

Invest in a cone stone for your grinder, you could have done a much cleaner easier job of making the openings with it for the radius's and they are great for porting o2 or turbine housings.

Turbine housings are usually a weldable alloy, as if a regular cast that is full of shit will survive the heatcycles
