Mikel Visual all I wanna know is was it a 4.7 or a 5.2 or a 5.9 ? and how much was the twin turbo kit? or was it a pieced together kit built for another application? ive been wanting to build a 4.7 twin turbo but there isnt a whole lot of available info on turbo kits for them. they are kind of a bastard engine when it comes to performance builds. not a lot of people liked the 4.7 but I did. I inherited my moms 4.7 Durango when she died and for a nearly 3 ton beast it will really wind up and go. even though its on its 3rd set of heads due to a cooling issue it still runs great. my mom fried 2 sets of heads but neither of them were her fault. she was just driving along all was normal and with no warning the temp gauge buried over to the H and it shut itself down. new heads she was driving and it did the same thing again! so my step dad put a new set of heads on it and then he went and bought her a 2014 Dodge Journey. He wanted her to have a reliable car instead of one that randomly overheated without warning. it still likes to over heat but at least with me it tends to give me a little heads up with the temp gauge. I have managed tonot melt another set of heads. I think that same engine entirely cast iron (block & heads) would be a bad ass performance build. I'm thinking twin turbo with ported and polished heads a slight bore to say maybe .030 over with about 8.5:1 compression and an ice box intercooler and an A/C delete would make a great setup for a lightweight car like maybe an old school Dynasty or New Yorker. A nice sleeper. 😈😈😈

To be entirely honest, the 1998 to like 2003 year models/1st Gen Durangos were hands down the cleanest and best looking Durangos built to date, Imo. I actually truly miss driving my dark blue 99' SLT around. Aside from all the problems and rust, these were truly pretty powerful trucks lowkey.

I remember if anyone drove it the VERY first time they touched the gas pedal they would basically launch the thing by accident and go HOLY SHIT thats powerful... lol every time. Hey man. You said you don't know how much it weighs. I know I'm late, but I have a rough answer. I had an 03 SLT+ 5.9L fully loaded with tow package, 9 1/4" rear end, full belly skid plates and 265/75r16 Cooper Discoverer STT Pro's and it weighed in right at 5450. I figure the extra 100lbs or so of tire would offset the probably close to 100lbs of twin turbo setup you have. So, I'd guess right around 5500lbs. And for that much weight, even with 3.92 gearing, your D MOVES.

Not in the street, try launching a 700hp on street tires on a non-prepped surface, versus and awd 530hp. On the street itll destroy a hellcat. If the hellcat had slicks and was at a drag strip then yeah it would win, but NOT on the street

I don't really even know what to say. Not impressive? is this something you see all the time walking down your street? a 530+hp Durango? Probably not. I mean 530 is a lot. Most cars that are considered "fast" in todays age, are around 335hp
