This is so cool! They don’t have buildings both tall and busy enough to warrant them here, but I do want to ride one of these systems. Just remember these can’t go through each other. As disappointing as it is, they’re still limited by the laws of physics. Only thing I don’t like is the implementation of destination dispatch. I hate, *hate, HATE* touch screens! (I will also note that this absolutely in no way replaces my love of vintage elevators)

@funcik1 The cables loop around the bottom of the lower car and around the top of the upper car. The counterweights either go side by side in the shaft or on the sides of the shaft.

They may cut your build costs down on how many cores you need but you pay for it in the long term with service maintenance and inspection, tied in with Thyseen

@funcik1 There is an express elevator that only has one elevator in the shaft. This allows you to get to upper/lower floors if there is another elevator in one of the TWIN shafts blocking the way.

Another alternative is to deepen the pit by one level so that the upper cab can serve the lowest floor, and to raise the overhead by one level so that the lower cab can serve the top floor.

One more question , please tell me how are the ropes placed on the lower cabin and where is the second counterweight ?

They are. But it only makes sense in rather tall buildings with relatively new installations as older buildings would have been built before that. There is at least one in Atlanta, and probably others that I do not know about.

I just can't see how this would be more efficient, unless the knowledge gleaned by a destination dispatch system can be leveraged that effectively... Maybe if most travel doesn't involve lobby level... I dunno, I worked at a place using two floors in same building so maybe

Rember that handy destination system they showed at 1:05 that will tell the elevator you want to go to the top floor and asaghine you the upper most elevator to serv you.

@ElectroMecca It is efficient because you have extra elevators. If you want to travel from an upper floor to a lower floor and there is another elevator blocking the path, you are directed to the express elevator, with only one elevator in the shaft. But let's say i want to go to the top floor I have to wait for the lift which is top cabin, cos then the lower lift would not be allowed to go on the top , becasue top cabin will block the way :D Get it haha :D

Also these are traction twin elevators imagine them as hydraulic twin elevators

That would definitely be a pain to try to implement. Definitely going to need to be roped (holeless hydraulic is limited to around 4 floors, so such a system is pointless to install)

That twin lift technology is so cool too bad they don't install any in the US or Canada

Actually, TK just installed the USA's first Twin system in Atlanta, Georgia back in 2019.
