I had the great privilege of seeing Bob Hoover do his routine back in the 80s.

He showed me that impossible only means flying a couple of ticks outside the flight envelope. amazing pilot.
I wish I had been in that left seat! I took ground school in 8th grade from my science teacher who was a saber pilot in Korea. He was shot down over enemy territory and broke both of his legs when he bailed out. A North Korean family hid him and nursed him back to healthe, but they had no idea how to set the fractures in his legs, so he was hardly able to walk and never flew again. In my science class I jumped right into the flight segment and never left, even though we were supposed to rotate through the several disciplines he was teaching. He mentored my buddy and I and by the end of the year, if we had the money we could have gone for our licenses. Too bad northern one of us could afford the classes. I loved every minute fit, and all of his stories! Thank you Mr. Marsiglia!
Beautiful plane. He really takes good care of her.

That's very evident
I remember Bob Hoover pouring a glass of water into a glass while he was doing aerobatics in this airplane. Amazing. Beautiful Plane.
For me, the aero commander especially the shrike commander, is the most beautiful General Aviation twin ever made.

theEntreriCode the DA62 looks modern and sleek, but it lacks the sheer class and pretty style of the commanders

When the door is open and you look at the cross section of the fuselage the quality of the twin Commander is evident. I’ve always loved them. Especially the shrike.

I agree, I would love to own one one day
I had the privilege of flying this airplane with John at Eagle's Nest. Such a fun airplane! It was almost surreal turning that puppy around in steep turns and doing landings in that beast! John and his family are wonderful people. The good noise and acceleration to go with it!
$100 burger LOL. I've had plenty of those, but it's the experience with friends that counts.
For a 56 year, it looks in mint condition.

Also ikr man it looks beautiful
Awesome , his back yard is a runway. Commander The Bob Hoover special and his wonderful coffee pouring while doing acrobatics.
I smiled through this whole video. And that's really saying something! What a spotless, well maintained and well updated Aero Commander! And the captain flew it like it was his favourite ball glove. Perfectly! I knew the yoke was completely different and I'm glad it was commented on. Outstanding choice in upgrade! Perfect video! Brought back old memories.
Fun fact, this type aircraft was the smallest aircraft to ever officially use the call sign of Air Force One. Great video as always! Ty
My all time favorite as a kid in the 1950s! Aero Commanders were manufactured in the OKC metro with their main service center at Downtown Airpark (RIP). They flew over my house every day, many times each day. Nothing sounds like a Twin Commander...it's beautiful. Nice vid...great plane.
Love the visibility with back-set high wing!
I recall Bob Hoover did some amazing things in a Twin Commander. Awesome airplane!
As a student pilot who has only taken off out of a class D airport, taking off on the small runway in the private community with a big twin engine seems crazy! Love the video.
Ahh.. conjures up memories of watching Bob Hoover perform airshow routines in his Shrike Commander 500S. Nicely done Bobby!!
Lol my old man was just talking to me about this guy. He and my mom own a little shop in downtown Mansfield and his daughter is one of his new employees there. He came up there about a week ago and told my dad about the commander. Pretty funny to stumble on this video.

Small world.
Commanders are a great plane. Flew right seat in a 690a with a pair of Garrets TPE331 a couple of times. Definitely out of my class. ;-) The commander in this video is very clean! Thx.
Really enjoying the content.. keep up the great work!!
Beautiful aircraft, great video as usual. Thanks for the ride !
Awesome plane! Love the Louisiana shout out! 36 years here for me. Have had a bunch of buddies go through the LA Tech program. Currently flying out of KBTR, KHDC and KNEW myself! Keep up the great vids!
Another great documentary, Bob
I love the looks of that aircraft. Great video!
The Twin Commander is a great plane. It was very popular during my generation. Very low to the ground with a very sleek look. I have never seen the interior but it looks extremely comfortable but I would want to be in the cockpit if I was flying. The performance on take off was outstanding. Great documentary and video. Hope you enjoyed your lunch at the terminal!

I am really enjoying these videos. Good production values. Thanks for making these :-}
The passion that nearly every plane owner has makes for some great videos. Keep it up!
The props matching the paint is a nice touch
Enjoyed the video John!
Great video! I love Twin Commanders, something about them...... Thanks for sharing.
Great experience to get to fly in these small craft. I can see you really know your stuff. Nice to see you following your passion after all you went through. Bet it is nice to share your sailing tales with these guys. I think you have a unique perspective and hop this channel does as well as Doodles.on the water.
Very professional looking video. I really enjoyed all the different camera angles.
that sight picture is sooo different. ive gotta fly one. beautiful machine
Biscuits, gravy, and Twin Commander all in one day - now that's living large!!! Beautiful bird.
Love these videos. Thanks for sharing. ✈⛵👍
That's one narrow runway! Cross winds would be fun.....
Where are the dinosaurs thought this plane was eaten Love the big view from the cockpit engine's sound like heaven
Bob, how hard is it to not the throw the camera down and say "Let me fly this sucker"?
Stumbled over your channel and I love the content! Keep it up!
Always loved aero commanders since I was a young kid. Beautiful airplane
Another great flying doodles vid!
That landing was awesome! So low it freaked me out! Merry christmas guys! LOW RIDER
Excellent video!
Loving the camera views!
That’s a cool ground rush on T/O, and landing. Great plane!
good to see you back in the air

Awesome plane.. one of the best. Stable camera platform. I love it
One thing i notice is people that have planes dont just fly .. they live to fly.
love the new channel bobby, great idea, hope you and laura are ok sailing is good x
hey bobby im really enjoying this new channel and as always keep the great vlogs coming
A chafed Hydraulic hose, yeah I spent 20 years working as an A&P, I can attest to the fact that its hard to find people who can pay attention to detail.
Love the GO, GSO, IGSO motors. I was the specialist for accessory cases and supercharger assembly when I was in the GA maintenance field. Always fun in the test cell.
Beautiful plane very nice video thanks for the flight.
John is a true aviator. Great video.
Cool set of yokes
Another great video!!!
Cool guy, and the fact his kids are doing so well says a lot about him.
Hello John, Some of my fondest memories is flying the turbo commander 698B out of KLFT. Great video enjoyed it thoroughly.
*Nice landing*
Thanks for the vid. Great stuff. Friends of mine owned one of these in South Africa.

@@glishskiii exactly, with no other financial obligations I pull around 700$ every two weeks and just about every penny goes to flight school, I'd have no way of doing this if I had to pay rent or other bills

My private pilot’s license cost $550.00 thru a college in Texas. Of course that was in 1970. 20,000 hours later has seen training costs skyrocket.
Great content man, keep up the great work. I'd love to learn some day.
Great video... Great airplane... John seems like a great guy too! Love, love, love commanders!
Another good one, Bobby! I agree with Brett! It did look like you had to restrain yourself from grabbing the yoke a couple of times. Nice work!

Best video yet!!!!
I love the aero commander, first plane I ever worked on was a aero commander at aviation high school in queens NY. You sir enjoy that bird she is nice.
I love the Aero Commander. I've flown a similar one a few times myself. Very smooth in typical summer light turbulence. The one I flew was a Turbine version. Good climb and nice cruising speed. IIRC it also uses less fuel than the Orenda's. Classic looks and really amazing aircraft.
Beautiful aircraft... and Go Dawgs!
I had a chance to go up in one of those planes back when I was a lineman at KMQJ. Silly me for not doing it. I still love aircraft to this day!
It's a very beautiful Commander. I love the aero commanders.
as long as the wing spar issues have been dealt with correctly, a Commander is a lovely airplane to fly
Awesome videos, I had to subscribe!
Nice modern upgrades to this 560. Always loved the geared Lycomings with augmentor exhausts

Ellis Chernoff I can always tell by the engine sound , when LYCOMINGS fly over, even a DC10, sounds different to an L1011, and an A 320 series go by.
What a nice guy!
Indeed it is good noise! You are blessed to be an IA.
Good interview and editing.

John, you the man! I like this video!
Fun plane! Pretty big difference at 30gph vs the 8gph of the Piper. It does look like a smooth, comfortable ride though. Hey, I'd be glad to hear more technical details about the instrumentation, quirks of that make/model, etc. Don't worry about turning off the casual viewer, you're probably getting mostly plane and flight enthusiasts here anyway. :)
The turbo commander 690 is my favorite. But I love all the commanders too
Great video I live in an airport community and it’s awesome!
Wow this guy's got experience knows the script
Twin engine high wing! Doesn't get better than that!

Beautiful plane. I have only seen a few of those over the years never flown one. That one is in great shape. If you are going to have a problem it does come after an annual.
great plane ! nice flight!
Very, very sweet. Nice bio, history. Good for him. Incredible he equipped three of his kids as pilots.
The commander pressurised turboprop is a plane to lust after!

First twin, I ever flew. My fath in law owned a aerocommander and a Mahl STOL aircraft I hated with a passion. The Commander was a jewel, perfect for day trips to LAX, SAN, SNA.
Nice video Bobby! Like the new channel. That was an expensive brunch! But fun!
Amazing looks like just delivered from the dealer in 1956 gallon of auto fuel was 30 cents no one was concerned with fuel burn. Shoulder harnesses would be good upgrade.
I am an Aero Comander lover!, nice video and flight.
I gotta check the "rulz" book but I thought anything to do with an Aero Commander had to pay tribute to Mr Hoover :) Thank you to your host.. privilege to see inside such a gem..
Very cool airplane and video
Sound's really nice.
